Who do you think isn't as well known as they should be by general audiences in the entertainment industry?

Seeing 'Sully' today, the first name that comes to mind for me as really flying under the radar despite being involved in a lot is Mike O'Malley.

A lot today probably only know him as the dad from 'Glee.' However, it's the diversity of his work from the past and behind the scenes that stands out. Every 90s kid might remember him as the host of the iconic Nickelodeon staple 'Guts.' Throughout he's proven to not only be a great supporting actor, show host, and funny comedian ('Yes, Dear' and more). But, he's a writer/producer for Showtime's 'Shameless.' I'm not saying he should be seen as a highly notable celebrity, but he's a lot more of a household name than many general audience members probably are aware of.

Who do you see as talent who should have more recognition from general audiences, yet seem to fly under the radar?

Kathryn Hahn

She shows up in a lot of places, but I feel like she should have the career/success that Melissa McCarthy had ended up with. Granted, I know a lot of McCarthy's roles rely on her appearance, but I mean how her whole comedy schtick is often being that abrasive/aggressive woman, and Hahn does that role so much better.

I think she's one of the funniest people in Hollywood, and the fact that she is not a legit A-list star/marquis name kind of confuses me.

Lee Pace. I've seen plenty of movie and Tv shows performances of his and I'm surprised he isn't an established leading man yet. He is fantastic in Halt and Catch Fire. Hollywood is thirsty for white american leading men so it is strange he is over looked.

Eddie Marsan. I think Marsan is underrated a hell. He has incredible range. He can play a timid nerd in movies like The World's End or terrifying wife beater in Tyrannosaur. He can do a variety of accents convincingly as well.

Agree with both, but especially on Lee Pace. He's a versatile actor and he's gorgeous, I don't understand why he isn't headlining major Hollywood films

Bill Camp. Shows up in lots of things (the sheriff in Lawless, the detective on The Night Of, the security CEO in Jason Bourne, Frank Nitti in Public Enemies).

Nobody will agree with me, but Gary Oldman.

It amazes me that Hollywood's best directors aren't lining up to work with him.

I'd say Patricia Clarkson and Richard Jenkins.

Both are longtime actors who have been in many big movies, but they are career supporting actors (much like the much better known Stanley Tucci) who most people wouldn't recognize or know their names despite probably seeing them many times on the big screen.

While yes, agree that it would be awesome if he's in more. Talking basically those who even fly below that level of radar.

Michael Fassbender.

He deserves a Tom Cruise level career.

Both actors always bring their A-game. :mnm:

Doug Liman would easily make my top 7 all time action directors.

I doubt he would make most people's list though.

Fassbender is great and gives a solid performance in everything. Even in garbage like Jonah Hex I thought he was entertaining.

I don't think Fassbender is under appreciated though.

I don't know if he is well known in America or how he is received over there but here in the UK he is known as one of the best actors of his generation.

Fassbender has also been nominated for over a 100 awards throughout his career including two Oscar nominations, three Golden Globes nominations and four Screen Actors Guild nominations. He does win much but he clearly isn't overlooked.

Even Tom Hardy said Fassbender was considered one of the best actors in their school (Drama Centre London) when he was there.

Mikey Fassbender, he was in the third year, “He was a really serious method actor and we used to watch him and think, ‘F***, man! He’s the s***!’” said Hardy. “He was in an Irish play about this guy who came back from the First World War who was a great athlete but ended up in a wheelchair, but at lunchtime he wouldn’t come out of character and was always in his wheelchair and we’d be like, ‘Dude! Just order your lunch and come along! We’ve got an hour before we have to go back to class!’” Hardy laughs and adds, “But he was the best actor in the school.”

Fassbender is the lead in the assassins creed movie so it looks like Hollywood is ready to give him leading man roles in major tentpole franchises.
Ben Foster
Ben Foster is great. I thought he was brilliant in 3:10 To Yuma

Yes.

Swingers is one of my all-time favorites.

Bourne Identity is great (not sure why that became Greengrass's franchise). Edge of Tomorrow is awesome. I really enjoyed both Go and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, too.

Christopher Heyerdahl. How he wasn't nominated for an Emmy for EVERY season of Hell on Wheels is beyond me.

Ben Foster, Barry Pepper and Carrie Coon.

I've heard it said that if Lee Pace were British he'd have a huge career.Seems accurate. Or Australian.

Christopher Heyerdahl was fantastic as Alistair on Supernatural.

For that matter, so was Fredric Lehne as Azazel.

And speaking of Supernatural, here's another underappreciated actor.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Another good character actor who's one of those "you probably don't know his name even though you've probably seen him in a few things", Dylan Baker.

Also, Ciaran Hinds (Mance "The King in the North" Rayder on Game of Thrones, the Russian President in The Sum of all Fears, Aberforth Dumbledore in Deathly Hallows, among many other roles).
