Telepathy, Afterlife Theories Cause Science Forum Uproar

basically it comes down to the rabbit. The rabbit guy died meaning donnie always lived to shoot him. Donnie dying means he never shot the rabbit guy for him to go back in time to prevent him from getting hit by the plane. That means he never went back in time to tell him what was going to happen.
Aren't you drunk? How the hell are you thinking so clearly:o :word: :meow: ?

Thats one of the reasons it was brilliant.
You never know exactly what happens because we end with the same scene we started. It was all about the discussion Donnie had with his teacher about traveling within the path of destiny and whether or not it was possible to divert from the path or if it was merely a matter of fast forwarding and rewinding within the path that was already set.
Donnie Darkos abilities to manipulate the earthly aspects of time travel is what allowed him to do things differently than the average man.
Those were his "super powers" but it is never really clear that if he was simply chosen by someone(either from the future or a higher power)or if it was because of his conscious awareness of the theory.

Then Donnie Darko suggests 2 things

1) Donnie Darko lives outside of the univesal time stream thus granting him power to change anything he sees fit without any reaction to himself.

2) Donnie creates alternate realities in which every decision made creates another universe where the opposite decision is carried out.

Now scientists believe the universe is always expanding. What if the universe is like a hard drive where it saves ever kind of information to a certain degree then when it run out of space it is either purge or get new memory. But no matter what computer you have eventually you cannot get any more memory and you must purge information so like any smart person you delete the oldest most useless info to create the necessarry room. This would be the universe collapsing or purging the past to create the future or in other manners of thinking destroying the past so the future may go on. I believe this 100%

BTW I still think very clearly when hammered.

Well, dont get ahead of the movie now ;)
The writer and director said he wasnt trying to make any kind of philosophical or scientifically theoretic point with his use of time travel and its relation to destiny/God.

I think it came down to him being able to manipulate his current reality only by traveling faster or slower within destiny because he could visualize the stream of his path.
He was able to do all the things he did outside of others destiny because he could move through it faster than those around him.
His destiny was always to die in his bed that night.

The alternate realities only existed to himself. Like a dream he had lying in bed which is where he started his journey and ended it.
So basically it could have nothing to do with reality, it could have just been a dream that connected him somehow...
to his future death just to make sense of his death. So he could know his life had served a purpose.
Which is what he wanted from the start and what he ended up with.

So, basically, you dont believe in the concept of infinity.

Now im forced to watch this movie again.

It's funny reading that article actually. While Telepathy and theories of the afterlife might seem silly to many scientists, and even some regular people.

It was only about 100 years ago that such things as heredity and DNA were laughed at by scientists in the early 1900's. I just read a book about the theories of Gregor Mendel and how he used peas to prove his theory of heredity, which basically was the building block to unlock the thing we know today as DNA in human beings.

So, they can dismiss all they want but sometimes being too realistic about things can cause you to be wrong. :word:

You know, I'd love nothing more than to see academics duking it out with each other.

I knew this thread would be created before kritic even knew it himself.
