HAHAHAHAHA!!! I'm soooooo stealing that smiley! :D

*right click, save as...*

You guys do realize that you're talking about a COSTUME PARTY, right? About a YOUNG Green Arrow that probably won't be even called GA but just Oliver, (just like Bart, Arthur, Victor, & Professor Fine) right?
Don't waste your breath... err... fingers, Kai. If people want to hate on a costume worn at a costume party but be okay with an actual *uniform* worn by an ESTABLISHED superhero *cough*sputter*cough*, then let'em piss and moan. Whatever. Aint worth defending. That photo from TV Guide looks pretty good to me, but we're SV apologists doncha know?

Actually a pretty good translation if you ask me.
Check out the cover of Green Arrow #68:

Notice the "shadows" on Ollie's chest? Pattern look familiar?

Yes, because shadows equal patterns now, c'mon.

Your in Smallville land now and as much as you try the comics or history doesn't matter here. Thats why I just look at this as another elsewhere tale.

You think after 5 seasons I havent realized that? LOL! My problem isnt that its not just like his comic suit, just that it looks stupid.

Most costumes do. That's why people hate costume parties. :p

you're right pointed hats with feathers sticking out them look real cool. Robin Hood isnt even depicted like that any more, well in any movie that's not a Mel Brooks parody..... You guys need to let go of the "everything needs to look just like the comics" shtick.
Amen.

It seems some people would complain about the suit or character no matter what the writers decided to do.

KalKai.. You rock. Just thought I'd say that. :)

Excerpts from Daily Variety, 9/8/06
The devil is Prada
By DEBORAH VANKIN

On the essence of costume design...

Director, John Landis: Costume design for film or television or theater has nothing to do with fashion -- and everything to do with character. It starts with the screenwriter or the author of the piece.

President of Costume Designers Guild, Deborah Nadoolman Landis: We help the director tell the story. Costume designers are really cultural anthropologists. That's who we are. We're the Margaret Mead of film. That's why we don't do fashion. We're not dressing these people; we're discovering who they are.

Costume designer, Louise Mingenbach: On every movie there's a producer who comes up with this idea, like it's a new idea, and it's going to work this time. But it always falls apart, this deal. Because of these issues. And they (fashion designers) usually can't provide you with what you need in terms of multiples.

Interesting!

I love the outfit:

It doesn't ignore the traditional look of the comic uniform nor is it totally slavishly devoted to being "just like the comics." It's a nice update, IMO.

The leather work is also splendid.

I like it,i mean at least he is wearing something.up untill now i was just assuming he was going to wear a green tshirt.like everyone else in Smallville.

LOL!

if the producers put that much attention to detail in a "guest star's" costume, a costume that actually looks good and fits the actor, i cant imagine TW not looking "super" at the end of Season 7!

You're right Green Arrow's costume reassures me a bit on that end.
I was thinking that just because it's tv and it will probably only be seen at the end of the series, that they would do a lame suit or just grab one of the old Chris's suits (we should be so lucky...) or in the worst case scenario grab one of the SR's suits.
I hope they make a great and well planned/designed suit for our Superman.

Heh, I kinda like this version of Queen.:(
