Does anyone think that he may not be bad guy right away? But falls to the dark side later in the movie?
Or perhaps he isn't really a BAD guy, just in the grey area where he is only doing it to support his family. Kinda like a rouge Han solo character.
Or maybe he is a bad dude, but slowly falls to the light side as the trilogy progresses.
There is a lot of opportunities then having him just be 100% evil right from the getgo.

I mean if anyone watched LOST, there were a lot of characters that were bad or looked bad in the beginning of the show and later turned out to be good hearted people.
John locke Looked like he was the next Lex Luther... turned out he was a pretty good hearted dude.. Same with Sawyer. Sawyer looked like he could never do good in his life... well we were wrong too, he turned out to have a heart as well.. Same thing that can happen to Adam Driver's character... or it could be the opposite. Starts out as a nice man.. ends up as the next Vader

Masked or not, he's a pretty good actor and that's all that matters.

Eh, he's good on Girls but I'll admit that he does seem like an odd fit here. But who knows? Maybe he has a lot more range than it would seem.

JJ usually does a good job with casting and character. It's the overall story he has more of a problem with.
