Why is there never a consistent look to the cave? Is it that hard to do?

The Batcave is open to different artistic interpretations. Kinda like Batman himself. There's always a few constants (T-rex, giant penny, massive computer), but it pretty much at the artists discretion. You should see the six-page spread in All-Star Batman and Robin.
