The BEST Breakfast Cereals

Seeing Superman awakened my longing for that days of Saturday morning cartoons. Couple that with a weirdass diet I’ve been on due to health reasons and lately I’ve been craving cereal all the time as my only guilty pleasure. I’m curious what everyone ranks as the best cereals out there. These are my personal favorites:

1. Honey-Ohs! (Formerly known as Honey Graham Ohs!).

Terrible for you I’m sure but in my book, this is the best tasting cereal on planet earth. Just delicious.

2. Count Chocula. Back again for the fall! I totally ate an entire box the other day. Turn my milk purple now dammit!

3. Lucky Charms. Great for a bowl or just a snack to much on anytime.

4. Frosted Flakes. Basic! But ya can’t beat a simple classic.

5. Cap’n Crunch. Also basic but so good and great to make milkshakes out of if you can get the flavors to set.

Yeah I love Frosted Flakes! I also like Special K, Gold Corn Flakes and Coco Crunch. I prefer my cereal soft, so I let sit it on milk for a while, then when cereals are soft, I devour them.

Frosted Flakes are the best. I remember also liking Special K back in the day. Never really cared for Corn Flakes though.

Here’s a deep cut though… anyone remember Crunchy Bran/Corn Bran? Not the most visually appealing cereal but somewhat healthier than your typical fare back in the 1980s but also quite tasty. Quaker Oats made it. Apparently it still exists as Quaker Oatmeal Squares!

Somehow I have never had it, despite being a peanut butter addict and a Capn lover. I need to remedy that!

Count Chocula, Cocoa Pebbles and Frosted Flakes currently. With Cinnamon Toast Crunch every so often.

As a kid it was Fruit Loops, Coco Puffs, Captain Crunch and Honey Smack. Trix on occasion.

How do you feel about Frosted Krispies? I always prefer them to the regular ones because they have flavor but they are so far to find for some reason!

I'm not sure if I have tried it but I'm assuming its similar to Frosted flakes. I definitely have eaten a Rice Krispies snack bars, one with choco glaze and another with milk glaze.

I googled more of these cereals, and Coco pops is also good. I still remember the crunch of it.

When I was in high school and running track and cross country, I had a pre race superstition and I’d eat Fruity Pebbles as my pre-race meal. So I still have a soft spot for that.

Never heard of these before; have to try them if I can find them.

Also, in terms of bland-but-delicious cereals, had Chex this morning for the first time in years and it’s still pretty great.

Also, what do people generally view as the WORST cereal? I’ve heard Kix is particularly terrible but I don’t think I’ve ever had it. All I remember about it was a really annoying commercial that used to come on around Christmastime with a couple of kids making a tree decoration with it.

Obviously for me, the worst is anything with raisins lol. But I’m sure plenty of others don’t feel that way.

I also grew to hate Corn Flakes a long time ago because when I was in college I took a month long course in London where we stayed in this really crappy roach motel where the “continental breakfast” was a choice between Corn Flakes and stale bread.
