Good to have a sense of humor about these things.

I love her. :lmao:

Apparently, Murphy wanted her for AHS a while back? Maybe she needs to reconsider that if the offer is still there.

Honestly, "Netflix will pick it up!" is kinda becoming the new go to, but I think it is going to be disappointing to a lot of people, because Netflix isn't going to ride in on a white stallion and save every cancelled show. I defnitely don't think Netflix will pick this up for a few reasons.

1) Between SMG, Robin Williams, and Brad Garrett the cast is WAY too expensive...production costs would be through the roof for a show that had one good season, wasn't really groundbreaking and didn't do huge numbers.

2) House of Cards and Orange is the New Black has changed the landscape of Netflix. When Netflix saved The Killing, it was pre-House of Cards and AMC was splitting production costs. Now Netflix saved it again a few months ago, but in a very limited capacity....it is only airing six episodes that are meant to give the show closure.

Arrested Development was a very unique case in which you had a very motivated creator and cast and a SUBSTANTIAL cult following. Plus the old episodes were one of the most streamed shows on Netflix. Finally, the deal got into place pre-House of Cards.

Yes, post-House of Cards Netflix revived Trailer Park Boys but that show is incredibly cheap to produce, has a large cult following, and I don't even think Netflix is paying all of the production costs.

In the post-House of Cards/Orange in the New Black landscape, Netflix is focusing on developing their own brand and their own programming. They are not going to settle for taking the table scraps of any other network. It just isn't going to work that way. Netflix has six new original shows coming out between now and the end of 2015 (Marco Polo, Sense8, Narcos, Grace and Funkie, Daredevil and an as of yet untitled psychological thriller show). In addition, there is going to be at least two seasons of Trailer Park Boys, at least one more season of House of Cards (probably two but only one is confirmed), at least two more seasons of Orange is the New Black, at least one more season of Lillyhammer and at least one more season of Hemlock Grove. In addition to that, there almost definitely will be another Arrested Development season at some point. PLUS, Netflix is developing a slew of animated programming.

My point is this, Netflix is focused on building its own brand and has a pretty full plate at the moment. Netflix is not interested in becoming the knight in shining armor that saves just about any cancelled show of moderate popularity. Everyone should temper their expectations in regard to Netflix.

As if just losing the show wasn't bad enough... :csad:

Dammit.

I was wondering how she took it. They seemed to be genuine on the show about being friends.

I'm truly saddened by what's happened. He's been entertaining me, my whole life ever since he guest starred on happy days. Those guest spots started my lifelong famdom and his feed the homeless stand up specials still seem so clear in my mind.

This was one of my favorite new shows and Robin was a huge part of why. He just has that something special that draws you in and makes you happy.

He strikes me as the type of guy that's hard to not fall in love or like with. He seemed like he would be great to just hang out with.

The shame is he forgot how many people loved him. Such is the case of suicide.

Dammit.
I'm starting to think that there were other reasons why the show wasn't picked up other than the usual "didn't have enough viewers" like others now. Same thing happened with Witchblade and Yancy Butler but she ended up on the other side of it. So sad that he couldn't make it there. :csad:

I'm not so sure. I mean, it's possible, but the way CBS is, I really believe it was a numbers thing. A likely more expensive show to produce + numbers that just don't compare to that Chuck Lorre dreck = CBS kicking it to the curb. If the numbers had been consistently higher and they pulled the plug on it, then yeah, I'd think it must have been something deeper.

Is it wrong to wonder if the show's renewal could've prevented his suicide? Like maybe being busy with something and being with other people constantly could've helped lessen his depression? :(

I've been wondering that all day.

Unfortunately, I'd be willing to bet the answer is "Yes."

^It is wrong because now I'm thinking about it and it's depressing me to no end. :(:(:(

The only ones who should feel depressed are CBS' marketing people who decided to reduce anything representing this show to next to nothing and load every commercial break with Big Bang Theory promos. Because you know.... that show needed it. :o

I've had the last 2 episodes of this sitting unwatched on my DVR forever since I heard about the cancellation. Now it's gonna be even harder to ever bring myself to watch them. :(

I've thought about that too but I don't think the answer would be any different.

Despite it being canceled, he had several other projects, mostly movies, going on and that should have been enough to keep him busy if that would have been all it took.

He had severe depression and was battling it. People who have never experienced true depression don't know how hard it is to live with it (I don't have it but I've had rough days, and that's nothing compared to this). It's not a simple matter to keep busy or realize the damage taking your own life will cause unfortunately when someone is as far down as Robin Williams was.

The DVDs for this thing are gonna fly off shelves I think.

“My life is a better place because I knew Robin Williams, To my children he was Uncle Robin, to everyone he worked with, he was the best boss anyone had ever known, and to me he was not just an inspiration but he was the Father I had always dreamed of having.
There are not enough adjectives to describe the light he was, to anyone that ever had the pleasure to meet him. I will miss him everyday, but I know the memory of him will live on. And to his family, I thank them for letting us know him and seeing the joy they brought him. Us crazy ones love you.”
