Since it's quite obvious there's going to be a game for TDKR, I thought we should have a thread discussing it (I hope this isn't too soon).

TDK was the first Batman movie to not have a game come out for it. Unfortunately, the TDK game actually looked very promising. It was an open world sandbox action adventure from the guys who made Mercenaries. Personally, I loved the BB video game and can't wait to play TDKR. It's a great time to be a Batman video game fan. We've got Arkham City this year and TDKR next! :D

I'd like for the game to include:

-Side quests
-Boss battles with villains we'll likely never see Nolan use in a movie
-Open world Gotham
-DCU cameos
-Batcave
-Batmobile
-Batplane
-Batpod
-10-12hr story

What are some things you guys hope to see included?

TDKR game? No thank you.

Also, where did you get your information that it's "quite obvious" that there's going to be a TDKR game?

Wait! Why no thank you?

This is batman we are talking about theres no such thing as over kill.

I'm not nearly as concerned with "overkill" as I am about the quality of the theoretical game.

They never released a TDK game because the Batman Begins game sucked.

The Batman Begins game wasn't great, it's true. But I think they said a TDK game was in the works, but when Heath Ledger died, the project was scrapped. There was a fair amount of Dark Knight merchandise I think that was scrapped because of his death. It all seemed a little low-key to me.

The Dark Knight game was cancelled because the whole project was a mess, not because Heath Ledger died.

Pandemic worked out a deal with Warner/DC and EA to make a Batman game. So Pandemic spent six months on pre-production of a Batman game. Then EA came in and said it had to be a Dark Knight game, so most of that six months’ work was thrown out. EA were forced to rush the project, as their ownership of the Batman rights would expire in December 2008. [...] Pandemic thought an open-world game would suit the property best. But few, if any staff at Pandemic Brisbane had experience making open-world games. The decision was made to use the same engine being used for Pandemic’s upcoming WWII action title Saboteur. It’s a pretty engine, but was never built for the kind of open-world game Batman was supposed to be, and this caused a ton of serious technical issues.

It's quite obvious because studios love to crap out movie games. Despite their flaws, they make money.

What, did you think DC was above it? They're making a GL game for the movie. TDK was the first ever Batfilm to NOT have a game.

I think it would be awesome if Eidos and Rocksteady (the team behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City) got the license to make a game based on the Nolan films. Start with the template from those games, use the same video capture technology seen in L.A. Noire with the actors from the films reprising their roles, and using the Nolan incarnation of Gotham the movie, and maybe a few other changes, and we have a great foundation for a great Batman film game. Thoughts?

The only movie tie in games off the top of my head that are any good would be Goldeneye and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (in this case BETTER then the movie).

I would add Escape From Butcher Bay to that list. But yes, the list of "movie tie-in games that don't completely suck" is a very short one.

If you're thinking that a game would raise publicity for the film, I'd rather get some DLC for Arkham City than a full TDKR game.

I actually liked Batman Begins a lot.

I did too; I grew up with the Batman Begins game on PS2, and enjoyed it. Yeah, it's not the greatest gameplay and sometimes gets old, but as a MOVIE GAME, it's far better than others. It had great graphics for it's time and the environments around you were stunning, all of the voice overs from the movie (except Gary Oldman) were there, the dialogue and between between some of the characters was neat, and overall it brought the stealth and fear factor into the game which honestly was one of the things I loved the most; a contributing quality that you would find in Batman: Year One, if you will.

It wasn't EXACTLY like the movie, if not in scenes FAR from it; but if you're a gamer who's played movie adaptation games, you know it's going to go that way. For the most part, some of it I really liked because you got more with Zsas than you did in BB, and some of the scenes they pull off that are different than BB might as well be just as epic.

I wouldn't mind though if they made a larger game, and re-did/combined all of the movies into a game; as long as it has those unique and awesome gameplay qualities you would get from BB the game, Akrham Asylum/City, Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, etc. Not rip off per say, but just get those feelings and routes of gameplay into it. That's what I'd like to see. :word:

i enjoyed BB on my xbox, and am sorry i ever traded it in...
i spent hours with my wife/girlfriend racing the batmobile
and even played through the game story mode like 4 times...

then again, i still pop in my spiderman2 and just run around the freeplay mode (i beat the game like 5years ago)

come to think of it, a freeplay like that in batman would be AWESOME!
somebody call EA

I;d like a dkr video game doubt we'll get one though
