We made the animated shorts "Nintendo: Oldschool Revolution" and "Batman's Gonna Get Shot in the Face", both of which can be seen or downloaded at http://www.Bullcrank.com
Anyways, the final touches are being made to our most recent cartoon script. The toon itself will be around 30 minutes in length, and is NOT a fan film. It's completely original and it will have a much more epic and dramatic look. We'll be dealing with a team of animators rather than just one single animator (like with Nintendo or Batman). It is a fantasy film, in a Narnia/Tolkien/DnD type setting... but it is NOT a geekfest, by the book rip off. It is completely original and character-based rather than it being a gimmicky geekfest.
Most fantasy books/movies revolve around a party of characters... the common cliche being a human warrior, his love interest (human or elf), a grumpy dwarf, and a wizard... I took that and just threw it out the window. In our cartoon, the evil that challenges the heroes occurs so quickly and unexpectedly that only 4 of the usual 9 of them are present... and we never meet the other 5.
A mysterious figure known as Lawson Wanderer explains to the 4 that every leader of every tribe, clan, or race of evil creatures has been summoned to a place so isolated that they're able to remain undisturbed for as long as they like. Goblins, werewolves, orcs, trolls, witches, liches, sirens, demons, imps, ogres, vampires, undead, dragons, gargoyles, and every other vile creature imaginable is in one place... and the good people of the world have no idea. The villains have been summoned by a mysterious, robed figure who claims to be the voice of Hell itself. He has gathered them to show them a weapon that will destroy their enemies with ease and make even the goblins and imps into gods. What the weapon is will remain a secret until the cartoon is finished. However, the 4 heroes, like their enemies... are so isolated that there is no time to go for help... as the villains' weapons will be revealed and used tomorrow. With 4 against 1000, death is absolutely a certainty. It's all a question of whether or not the heroes should even bother trying to stop this evil plan... or spend the rest of their days hiding from this "weapon" while the unknowing people of the world are murdered by it.
Jacob Drake (animator of Nintendo and Batman) will most likely be the head of the animation team. Adam Fritz (sound recorder on Nintendo) is in talks to do backgrounds. Gabe Sabloff (the film "Grayson) is in talks to do character designs. Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) has asked for a part in every film we make from now on... so he may voice the gnome in the heroes' group. Also, Stevie Richards (WWE-ECW) may help, and Dian Bachar (Baseketball, Southpark) may help if we can get around union issues. Of course I'll be a voice (I was Superman and Robin in "Batman" and Link, Master Chief, and Baby Mario in "Nintendo") as will Vince Bruno (Batman and Luigi). Rachel Belvin (Batgirl) will most likely voice the lead female.
Like I said, we're still in the early stages on this... and we're going to be shooting our first live action feature sometime next year but I'd like this cartoon to finish before the feature as a way of drawing interest to our work just before the movie's release.
