So in the show Fargo, do they stretch out the plot from the movie?

No. Some of the characters start out vaguely similar to the ones from the movie, but it's a whole new story. And in one of the episodes, [blackout]there's a flashback to 1987, where one of the characters in the show finds the money that Buscemi buries in the snow.[/blackout]
