You read the title -- post the goth type music you like, both old and new, here.

I tend to gravitate toward the more dance-friendly electrogoth stuff myself, but I also like the slower creepy stuff sometimes. Here's a sampler.....

Project Pitchfork

Rotersand

Ladytron

an older one...Switchblade Symphony

and a classic....Nitzer Ebb

I was just about to post a revised version of a guide to industrial music that I had written for a friend's message board, only to find that there's already been a thread started for such music. I honestly didn't think that there would be one, but I'm glad I was wrong.

I'm familiar with every band you listed except Rotersand, but I especially like Nitzer Ebb. I absolutely love Douglas McCarthy's vocals. I got into the band several years ago after hearing the work McCarthy did with Recoil, picked up Ebbhead, and the album (along with Belief, another one of my favorites) has gotten steady rotation in my CD player ever since.

As far as my other favorites go, I have the tendency to get pretty carried away in discussions like this. I was going to make a list, but it got way too long. A condensed version: I dig anything Genesis P-Orridge or Peter Christopherson have been involved with (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil, etc.). Cabaret Voltaire, Neubauten, Ministry, Chemlab, KMFDM, Wumpscut. I really love anything Martin Atkins and Raymond Watts have done as well.

For gothic, I tend to favor metal with gothic stylings, such as Type O Negative and Amorphis. I'm starting to get into Katatonia, My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost, but I've not found any of their stuff in town.

For Industrial, I'm always looking to delve further into it, since everything I've heard I liked. However, nothing I've heard can top Godflesh. As for others, Ministry, Lard, Laibach, KMFDM, Nailbomb and Strapping Young Lad.

I like Bauhaus. The Horrors have a couple of good tunes too but I guess their music is more garage rock

I can't even begin to compile a list of my favs here without wearing out my keyboard.

Love all these bands but I too haven't heard of Rotersand. I love that track that's posted.

I haven't been able to stop listening to Combichrist lately.

Same here. I'm really enjoying Today We Are All Demons.

Awesome, wouldn't have thought there'd be many Hypers who listen to goth/darkwave/EBM/industrial. :yay:

Some of my favorites are Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, The Cruxshadows, VNV Nation, and Covenant. And one of my absolute favorite bands is The Cure.

I liked the Cure's earlier stuff a lot more. They got too poppy later on imo. 'Pornography' was a perfect album. Also loved '17 seconds'.

I like to think I have ecclectic taste, and The Cure's diversity is why I like them a lot. :word: Different albums for different days. Pornography's wonderful. Musically, I prefer 17 Seconds and Faith.

Yeah, I just loved that whole era for them. Even with their later poppy-ness, I still love 'Disintegration'.
