The Joker screen-test

What did you think of me as the Joker?

  • Awesome! - You were born to play the Joker

  • Great! - The acting, voice and laugh were original

  • Good - It's sub-par, but just work on the laugh

  • Bad - Just give up while your at it

I am now currently working on my own version of War of the Worlds for the summer, but I'm in the stages of trying to create a Batman fan-film for next year or so. As like SeriousDuke's sequels to Batman Begins, mine will be the same, but only with a different script and story plot.

Here is test-footage for me as the Joker taken from a scene in my script. Please tell me what you think.

But please me nice. I would like to hear some constructive criticism on how to improve and what elements I should keep.

So...in other words...different...

Yeah...

Not bad, btw. Reminded me of Hammil in the laugh. And like I told Swordmaster, here...

Jesus Christ, You look like a serial rapist. (And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible)

Okay then, rewatched it for the sole purpose of constructive criticism, as you said. So let me say this:

You got Joker's character down pat. At times, I felt as if I were watching animated Joker. There was, I think, too much laughing. At times the laughinh detracted from the scene at hand. Instead of laughing, I would suggest a slight snicker here and there. Oh, and the smile. While I am against the perma-grin utilized in B'89, I felt that you didn't grin enough. There were times that that worked, certainly, such as when Harv punched Joker. But, in my opinion, he should have been constantly smiling when telling Harvey about 'Big Bad Harv' (though that theatrical frown was a stroke I admired).

Also, when Uncle J is beating up Harvey, I think one of your laughing rants could be switched from once scene to that.

But, overall, a great performance

You look alittle young for the part, but overall not bad.

Well, to be fair, He is 14...

Overall it was pretty good. I agree with Swordmaster that there was to much laughing but other than that

I understand what our saying, but let me clarify.

Believe me, there was alot more laughing in my unedited version, so I thought I cut out enough:confused:

Again, sometimes I felt like I was being to over the top, so I limited some stuff like the smiling. I thought I did it enough to get the point straight across that I'm the Joker lol.

Some of the shots were filmed out of order, so it looks akward when I'm not doing my laughing rant. Plus, it's hard to do a good Joker laugh because it's usually high pitched. Whenever I try to do it, it doesn't work and I don't want to hurt my voice.

And let me just remind people that I filmed this at 1:30 in the morning! I was cranky and wanted to get the screen-test over with.

Thanks for the constructive criticism lol:up:

Even MORE laughing!? Jesus...

The thing is, about Joker, which you already know, is that it's alright for you to be over the top.

You mention the laugh hurts your voice. That's why I said use it sparingly

I expected to not comment in the thread... I mean, since you said "be nice", and since 99% of all fanfilm acting is awful I didn't really think I'd be posting here... but you're pretty good.

Like Swordmaster said, maybe a bit too much laughing and bit too little smiling. :)
And of course, there's the age-thing... but that's to be expected in fanfilm...

"So your saying.....there's a chance?" - Dumb and Dumber

I'm glad you liked my acting. I understand how it is with bad acting in fanfilms. Not that I want to brag, but I have been trained through experiences in theater and such. So I guess there's no where to go, but up from here:up:

Joker test was great. I thought the acting was pretty damn good.
