Since news has been slow lately for TDK, I thought for fun some of you might enjoy to see this little screen test I put together of me as the Joker.

I know what your thinking:

But I'm an actor on stage and this my second Joker screen test for those who saw my first. This time I'm in make-up, more creepy, more scary and even more of a serial rapist:oldrazz:

Oh and I'm begging for comments! I can see you guys who are looking at the thread. I want some input

if you want constructive criticism, here it is:

whenever i watch any of these joker screen tests by amateur actors, they always seem to have the same flaw. instead of trying to be unique, they always seem to use too much inspiration from a previous joker...whether it be nicholson, romero or hamill.

patient j was far too much hamill.

dead end joker was just crap.

when i watched this video, i saw too much nicholson and too much hamill.

have another go at one of these...and really give it your OWN interpretation. DON'T BE SCARED TO! you may get people digging it, you may get people slating it. but at the end of the day, you can say it's the way YOU showed the world the joker.

Have you ever seen a New Zealand show called Revelations - The Initial Journey? It's shown in the UK sometimes and the main actor Tom Hern kinda looks (without the make up) and sounds like this.

Well, I really enjoyed that

When you went psycho with the wooden bat, it reminded me of him killing Jason Todd. I really like your laugh, too.

That's why I'm so excited to see what Heath's going to do... Because I have no idea where he's going to go with the character and everybody says it's very different from other interpretations, but just as classically Joker.

yup, exactly my point. and i can't wait to see it either.

That's the first fan rendition of the Joker that I've actually ever enjoyed. Great work.:word: Great laugh too.

Are you making some sort of film, or are you just doing it to be doing it?

You know I kind of take that as a compliment. At least your not saying I did it badly, but I do know what you mean. I'm sorry but I'm too heavily influenced by Mark Hamill because he did so great on the character. I can't help but act like him.

You know what the problem is? because Hamill did such a great job, I think he's the ideal portrayl. Because IMO it's very hard to top that with another interpretation. Plus it's hard to find a middle ground. i wanted to be dark, but with that there needs to be the zanyness. Have you seen my screen test previous from this one with no make-up? Maybe this is what your looking for? Still has a little Hamill to it...

I was going to use a crowbar, but I don't have one :csad:. A hammer would have been better but i didn't want to hit the camera by accident. A wooden bat seemed safer. And glad you liked my laugh. I was practicing the laugh so much that day, you should hear me when I'm not tired :cwink:

Are you making some sort of film, or are you just doing it to be doing it?

2 years ago I was planning on making a film much like Eric Smiegel's Batman Dark Descent called Batman Insanity. Probelm is I didn't have the right camera at the time, money was tight and resources were low. Plus there was the major problem, who would play friggin' Batman and Harvey Dent? I tried recruiting an outside friends but they weren't trustful and then there was Rachel Dawes....So yeah It really wasn't going to work.

I do have a third of a script completed, but because of these probelms I gave up. The previous screen test that I linked above is a scene excerpt from my script where joker interrogates Harvey Dent.

I think you did great. I dug it. But the hair was missing something. Not green enough. Loved the laugh and the smile

Nail, meet hammer. This is exactly the point I was going to make. And this is why I am so amped for what Heath will do. I know he wants to be different, just like Bale was. Heath will take this thing places we haven't seen yet.

You have the skills but I agree that you need to give your own flavour! Otherwise there s no point of doing a new joker if it s the same acting.

What I am looking for in BDK it s the "frustrated" joker not the "clown" joker everybody knows this part.

Im all for Heath bringing his own flavour like nicholson and hamil did for thier portrayals but i pray they dont steer to far from the Joker fundermental elements: Insane laugh, total unpredictability, flambouyant dress sense, the joker without these isnt the joker i still get this feeling we are going to get a poor Hannibul lecter with Ledger i praY IM WRONG.

I'm sure he'll do what's necessary. He's a talented actor, and I'm sure he understands how all of us are cradled around the glow of the computer on an internet board writhing in fear of how much he could/couldn't screw it up.

I wasn't convinced.

I felt very aware that I was watching some young guy trying to imitate Mark Hamill's Joker, if you know what I mean.

Maybe i should record my own rendition of the Joker...

As an aspiring film director, there are quite a few things that can bother me when watching amateur performances. One of them is a lack of confidence with what you're going to say, which is something I see alot in amateur performances. While this screen test isnt inherently bad, the fact that it isnt' well shot immediately pulls me out of the performance. But most of all, it's a certain sense of you not being exactly sure what you're doing. The simplest way I can put it is to become the character, than try to act like the character. Try to imagine that you really were the Joker, and think how you would act, look at mannerisms he might have, speech patterns, his smile, his laugh. And then, transmit that. This is why it's so hard to become a great character actor, and why there weren't that many actors out there fit to be the Joker, whch is why i was so relieved that Ledger was cast. He is able to shed his own skin and really become his characters.
