The MLB 2007 Thread

Just saw that catch by Rowand on ESPN. Mercy!

Mets lose and I can only remember Willie Randolph's comments just a week or so ago: "When we sip champagne later on, it'll be a little sweeter."

And yes, if the Padres win, the Cubs win the central.

- Cubs are in the playoffs as the Central representative.
- The Phillies need one more win and a Mets loss to clinch the NL East.
- The Padres (if they win tonight and the Rockies lose) need one more win to put the Wild Card out of reach.
- The Arizona Diamond Backs are in the playoffs with a win tonight.

Well, technically not yet, the Brewers are down 3 in the bottom of the 9th right now. If they can't rally, Cubs take the division and the Brewers...They gone!

And the Rockies just lost.

My Playoff Predictions based on the teams with the best chance of being in there...and the match ups we'd have.

NATIONAL LEAGUE:

Arizona: 3
vs.-------------Arizona:2
Chicago:1
------------------vs.-------------Philadelphia PHILLIES:
Philadelphia:3
vs.-------------Philadelphia:4
San Diego:2
----------------------------------------------vs..............__World Series Champs__

AMERICAN LEAGUE:

Boston:3
vs.-----------------Boston:1
Los Angeles:2
---------------------vs.----------- New York YANKEES:
New York:3
vs.-----------------New York:4
Cleavland:1

I won't make my prediction for the world champion. Because, honestly, if those teams faced one another I don't know who would win in a four game series. Both are the most high octane offenses in the game and have faulty pitching. I would want the Phillies to win, but it would be a great series and a hard fought one by both sides for sure.

Nice to see some new faces in the playoffs this year.

NYY is the only returning playoff team from last year's AL roster, and SD is the same for AL.

Six new playoff teams

Brewers are out. Cubs are NL Central Champions.

Congrats to the Chicago Cubs, 2007 NL Central CHAMPIONS!

The Mets best chance to make the playoffs is through winning the next 2 games and pray that the Phillies lose at least one for a tie and 2 to clinch.

I think it's the Phillies time to win the East. It's theirs.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sox And Cubs Clinch On Same Night!!!!!yessss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

He's just a sad dellusional Met fan.....

I'd rather be sad and delusional than a bandwagon fan. BTW, you're crazy if the Phillies manage to advance to the WS. If they get in, they will have the worst pitching staff by far out of all the playoff teams.

Even if they force a playoff game, they will have to pitch Pedro on 4 days rest (brilliant move by giving him 6 days rest )

I've become completely ambivalent to the Mets. I'll be happy if they manage to get in. If they don't, I'm not going to jump of a bridge. They will complete the most historic collapse since the 64 Phillies. Hopefully that costs Willie Randolph his job. For weeks he kept acting like they clinched months ago (he even said their slump will make the champagne taste sweeter). It wasn't until yesterday he actually showed he had an aggressive attitude towards winning. Of course it doesn't help when you do that with 3 games left to play and you're tied in the division.

Not particularly a Mets fan but I'm happy if any NY team does well. If I had to root for a 2nd team it would be the Mets.

I REALLY hope that you aren't saying that I'm a bandwagon Phillies fan! If I were at my old room in my parents house I'd take some pictures of all the Phillies memorabilia I have accumulated since I was 3 years old. I was the Batboy for the Phillies in 2000's Spring Training, season tickets in 1996, the All-Star Game in Philadelphia. I'm a true fan.

I'm glad that you are finally being humble.

Sure you are.

Anyway, do you honestly think that the Phillies are going to get to the World Series? They clearly have the worst pitching out of any playoff contending teams. They can't out slug the opponent in every game. I'd be surprised if they let made it to the NLCS.

You don't have as much posts as he does in this thread, so that makes you a bandwagon fan in his world.

How can you call someone a bandwagon fan????? Just because they don't post in this thread all the time doesn't make them less of a fan.

Red Sox were all over the field tonight celebrating, champagne being sprayed on each other and the fans. Great moment.

I guess we're all bandwagon fans then. Spidey-Bat has 1,107 posts in here

and the next closest is Jerry at 384.
