Wait; the rankings change? wild card plays central now?

Is that possible? If the mets win, phillies lose, and padres lose, than the mets and padres make it. if phillies win, mets lose, and padres lose, than the phillies and padres make it, or what ever it is. I guess it could happen if the mets and phillies both win, than the padres lose, then the loser palyed the padres for thw wild card. damn i don't know what the hell I'm saying.

I watched the 2 fights in the Met game. Here's what happened:

Castillo was up with Reyes on 2nd (double). The first pitch was throw in close to Castillo's knees. He got off balanced and hopped on 1 leg. The next pitch was throw behind him, Reyes went to 3rd on the wild pitch. Castillo went to the mound and the benches cleared. Miguel Cabrera ran towards Castillo to stop him from getting to the mound. The Mets pitching coach, Rick Peterson approached the Marlins coaches and Miguel Olivo saying he was pissed they threw at Castilo's knees (his knees always bother him) and really goes at them verbally. Wright got between Peterson and Olivo. The game resumes. After a pitch (low for a ball), Olivo points towards Reyes on third. Reyes points to him and smiles (Reyes said Olivo said to him he would throw to third and hit him, Reyes thought he was joking).

Castillo was walked on ball 4. The Marlins manager goes out to make a double switch. Uggla, Olivo, and Andino (SS) are at the mound. Olivo says 'Do you want to fight?' to Reyes. Reyes says "Let's fight" and he takes off his helmet and waves his hand. Reyes thinks he was joking but Olivo charges him. Sandy Alomar, Mets 3B coach, gets between Olivo and Reyes and takes 1-2 blows from Olivo. Cabrera holds Reyes back. The benches clear, a bunch of guys fight on the side, some guys are getting held back. It was pretty crazy.

If the Padres lose tomorrow and the Mets, Phillies and Rockies all win, then all four teams tie. Phillies and Mets will play for the division. The loser of the game will go on to a three-team wild card tournament to decide who wins the NL Wild Card.

NewYorkSpider, I checked your WS prediction from March. I laughed a little bit.

I laughed too. Both teams had a mess of injuries during the season though. I felt like those were the two best teams coming into the season.

psh best fiht is still sox yanks in july 2004 where there actually were a lot of punches thrown.

I wasn't going to say this since it's me, but you're right about the fans. Most of them don't care about the Phillies which is unfortunate. I'm not accusing anyone here of being them, but the majority of the people who go to the games couldn't care less about the Phillies.

I have a cousin in Philly. He said that when the Phillies were only 1 back, all that was being talked on TV and the radio was the Eagles. He also jokes that there are no Phillies fans, just Eagles fans who go to the wrong stadium.
It's not that fans don't care about the Phillies, it's simply that Philadelphia is primarily a football town, and, generally, the Phillies aren't even close to getting into the playoffs at this point, so people's focus is always on the Eagles. So this whole thing of actually having a reason to be interested in the Phillies in September is rather new.

That said, for it being new, they've been getting a rather tremendous amount of support. I mean, not only are the games being sold out, but people are even staying in to watch the games every night.

fails toshow that in this pic (and the entire indoor celebration and during live interviews) papelbon had on this shirt and a jockstrap and nothing else...

I thought the Tigers were the best team in baseball to start the season as well. Unfortunately they quickly deteriorated. The Dodgers will be good next year. They'll have a very good staff with Schmidt, Lowe, Penny, Loiaiza, and Billingsley.

Who is going tomm again?

Glavine Moyer?

If its Glavine... watch him throw a clunker and sign with the Braves shortly thereafter while chuckling to himself. Not to be pessimistic but I can easily see the Mets losing tomm... although Willis has been brutal this year.

Phills don't deserve it... most people in that city could care less about that team. Hopefully its Pedro, Orlando, Wagner sealing the deal on Monday.

Phils are the hottest team in the NL after the All-Star break...I would much rather see a team that has been winning games then a team that backs in and has been god awful the last month.....

As for Philly fans not caring you have no clue what your talking about. Having lived in the city, this town is truly a Baseball town but the problem is that there hasn't been much to talk about in the last 13 years...the last few years they've sniffed the playoffs and crumbled towards the end. This town right now is embracing this team..did you see the game Friday Night, playoff atmosphere.

As for your cousin Spidey Bat he must be listening to some other stations then me because the Phillies have dominated the airwaves the last month. Usually this tim eof the year the Phillies are out of it, but its different this year, The Phils are getting all the attention.

This town would go nuts if the Phils got to the post season!

The Rockies are. They won 11 in a row.

It was earlier in the week.

The Phillies are 44-29 since the ASG. The Rockies will have the same post-ASG record once they win tonight.

ok then there in line with the Rockies as the hottest team in the NL....before todays game it was the Phils.

So at this point do you think the Phillies deserve to get in the playoffs?

Their lineup does. I can't say the same about their pitching or their manager.

I agree there bullpen is bad, Manuel to my suprise managed the games pretty well considering all the injuries they had.

Is Randolph done if the Mets don't get in?

I don't think so. If it were up to me I'd fire him even if they won the World Series. He's a strategic ******, doesn't protect his players, and has a man crush on Guillermo Mota.

Our owner is cheap and I've heard he's going to make the bullpen coach be the scapegoat for this mess.

I don't see how just because a team's bullpen is bad or manager is bad or whatever is bad that it means they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. If they can fight through their weaknesses and make it to the post season then they earned it. They weren't handed anything. And if the Phillies make it, they won't back into the playoffs like the Mets do if they end up making it. So lets not talk about who deserves it and who doesn't.
