Fraser Set For Mummy 3?
Series star reportedly back for sequel.
by Stax

September 7, 2006 - Brendan Fraser is reportedly set to reprise his role as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy 3. Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III) has been offered the director's chair.

The script has been penned by Smallville and Shanghai Noon vets Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Plot details for the movie were not divulged. Stephen Sommers, who wrote and directed the first two installments, is apparently not involved with this sequel.

No word yet on whether Oscar winner Rachel Weisz or Oded Fehr will also return for the third film.

Universal is lining up The Mummy 3 to film early next year, according to ProductionWeekly.com.

Fraser will first shoot Inkheart for director Iain Softley. The family fantasy pic is an adaptation of Cornelia Funke's book. Inkheart is slated for a November start in the U.K.

Oh god.... way to ****e it out... Returns was fun but atrocious...

Well it does say Sommers isnt involved.
I loved what Johnston did with Hidalgo so if they are going to do it atleast it seems like the right direction.

So how is the bald guy gonna be back this time around?

Actually..since Sommers isn't writing or directing...it could be good.

I'd only see it if Rachel Weisz appeared, because, let's face it, "The Mummy" movies worked because of their chemistry. If Weisz isn't in it, then the thing I liked about the movies will be gone.:o

I'll be looking forward to this one but I hope they can get Weisz back...they were a team.

This could be interesting.

Cool, low rent Indiana Jones fare but fun anyways.

I got a bad feeling about this :( :(

I liked the first two, I hope the third would please me

Mummy III: What's It Gonna Be?
Not all mummies are Egyptian.
by Paul Davidson

December 5, 2005 - Mummy fans have been wondering for some time now whether the next film in the campy thriller franchise would involve Egypt again. It now appears that the new Mummy villain will be Chinese.

IESB has taken a look at a screenplay for the film, and here's how they describe it:

"The central premise is that we're dealing with a new mummy now … the desiccated remains of China's first uber-Emperor Qin Shihuang… Wang wants to take over the world by releasing his army of warriors who were cursed and turned into terracotta statues a few millennia ago."

Mummy 3 apparently takes place in 1940, and the Japanese presence in China plays a small part in the story.

The script, if genuine, was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of Smallville. This contradicts an earlier rumor that said director Stephen Sommers was writing the script. Parts for both Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are written in, although there's no confirmation yet that they're involved with the next film.

From the sounds of things, the script might not yet be on par with the previous installments in the series. We'll let you know what develops.

Well I have faith in Gough and Millar

Looks interesting. I loved the first two, so who knows!

I was never wild about the first two. So I dont really care if a third gets made or not.

I have been hoping that this would happen. I like the Mummy movies, the first being my favorite one. I hope Oded Fehr will return, his character is my favorite.

Well most movies are simply made to entertain, not going heavy on plot. The Mummy movies fall into this mold. Even so, they still were watchable, so id like to see what they come up with.

I think it could turn out pretty good, as long as they get the original cast back. I heard a rumor that this movie might not be about egypt at all, but actually Chinese mummies... I don't know if that scoop was legit or not though, and I don't really know how a story set in China would tie in with the first two. Still, it might be interesting to see a change of setting if it's true.

And I loved the first two (even though the Scorpion King was totally fake looking in Returns)! :)

I enjoyed the first two. A 3rd could be interesting.

I heard that aswell, that could make it intresting.

Thanks, but I'll stick to...

Not bad. Not bad at all.
