Is it possible that one of the most famous writers of all time was a woman?

"My point in writing the book was not to somehow convince people that I am right. Rather, my hope is that people will see that there is enough evidence for us to at least be open to the idea that Shakespeare was a woman," Ms. Williams said.

Do you buy this controverse theory?
I find it very hard to believe.

I've read something like that a while back. It could be true but I don't buy it.

I've heard everything, from there being two of him, or even that Shakespeare was his rival who's name I don't remember under an alias.

Hmmmm, this is going to be hard to explain....but stay with me.

There shouldn't be a Supergirl. There should just be Wonder Woman.

After all, after Spider-Man and Superman and Batman, you get Spider-Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl. You don't get Wonder Boy or Storm Boy or Psylocke Man.

Which is a very roundabout way of saying, some women seem to think the way to be on the same level as men is to compete with them in masculine terms, and try to hijack male icons and make them female.

You could've just skipped everything else and get straight to the point. But I like your roundabout ways.

nah!...but, every writer has a muse

There is a Wonder Man. And Bread.....don't forget Wonder Bread.

I Knew it. I successfully predicted the topic of the thread before clicking on it.

You can all grovle at my feet now.

LOL!!! where would Skippy be without his peanuts

There is also the theory that Shakespeare did not write any of the plays and they were in fact written by Francis Bacon.

Something like that.

The biggest mystery about WS is why we have to read his boring plays in school? Talk about a cure for insomnia

Memorizing Shakespeare is a b*tch, so maybe he really was a woman.

the stories themselves are interesting. The language is murder.

Shakespeare was a woman, where do you think the term "beard" came from when referring to the gays?

 Thanks bud.

The thing that gets me about Shakespeare is - and I've been to Stratford-Upon-Avon, I've been in his house ;) - that people always use the term, "It's not Shakespeare".

Shakespeare's stuff.....

A. Has stuff like witches, fairies and magic
B. Made for the mass audience
C. Full of violence and sex and comedy
D. Has men in brightly coloured costumes spouting long, melodramatic speeches. So don't use the term, "It's not supposed to be Shakespeare" when defending a superhero movie, or an action movie, or whatever.

Okay, I'm done.

I've heard before that WS didn't write his plays and I completely agree with your last statement

They say that his works are as relevant to todays society as they were when they were written.

But how do we know this? Hardly anybody can understand what the heck he is talking about. Even so called experts are just telling us what they "feel" he was trying to say and as far as we know they could be talking total BS that did not even enter into the mind of Will/Francis at the time S/He was supposed to be writing whatever play they are going on about.

Another idiotic Shakespeare theory. Why is it so hard for people to accept that a lower-class Brit who wrote stuff primarily to please the masses happened to have real talent?
