The October Surprise Thread

It is coming. It is now October and each side has something they're going to try to do to move things their way in a decisive manner. McCain trails as of this posting, but not by much. Will he be able to make up ground and take a lead with the Right's attempt? Will Obama seal the deal with the Left's attempt? What will they each come up with?​

Some thoughts:
- Bin Laden captured personally by John McCain at the actual gates of hell as he is 72, after all. (Actually, I think we may see Bin Laden captured, but I thought that in 2004)

- Obama gave legal advice to the Communist Party...for free, comrade

- Joe Biden says something stupid. (Most likely scenario)

- Sarah Palin's trooper firing bites her in the ass {Insert VPILF/MILF/GILF reference here}

- Howard Dean hired to fire up the crowds at Obama rallies

- Zombie Reagan returns to pimp slap Sarah Palin for referencing him in the VP debate

As a McCain leaner, I have to admit that even I got a little freaked out watching Al Davis' fruitcake circus this week and realizing that McCain isn't that much younger.

I doubt anything will happen. Every campaign promises an October suprise and usually it is just a high profile endorsement or a really mean commercial about the opponent.

Yeah....and not much of a surprise. I am calling for a past negative act/situation on Palin that will pop up. Other than that i don't see anything big.

If Powell was going to do it I think he would have done it already. I just don't see Powell allowing himself to be used as some kind of gimmick for either campaign.

I agree with my comrades here...I just can't see the campaigns bringing anything else out there that will really shake things up.

Now, I DO believe that the October surprise will be something out of the blue that neither campaign can control nor create.

For example, if this Wall Street Bailout mess had happened this month, I'd actually crown it the surprise because it's really become a game-changer for Obama. So I expect something else nationally big to blow wide--maybe a foreign policy issue, or more economic problems...something that will allow both candidates to flex their muscles again.

But as far as new scandals or dirt from the campaigns? Nah. What's done is done now, methinks. Ditto for a Powell endorsement...I see some people brushing that off as "well, duh ya think?" for obvious reasons.

The Hustler founder has made an X-rated movie using an adult-film actress who resembles the governor of Alaska.

Flynt's team had posted an anonymous advert on the website Craigslist just days after Mrs Palin took the Republican convention by storm last month.

The ad read: "Looking for a Sarah Palin look-alike for an adult film to be shot in the next 10 days."

The actress would be paid $3,000 (£1,700) for the part.
