Ok...so what we are 2 years behind our American cousins...

The Astonishing spider-man comic still rules (mainly due to Brady Webb- god, that guy is a genius) but for a mere £2.50 a fortnight, you get two stand alone modern age comics as well as a classic one!

right now, the arc is Millar's Marvel Knights- the kidnapping of Aunt May. The Venom suit is just up for auction.

So...all you U.K Spidey lovers, show your dedication to this superb comic book.

Next issue out- 13th July.

fortnight is two weeks and the comic comes out every 4 weeks. thought i'd make that clear. i gave this up when i gave up comics but picked up the last issue, to stop myself getting ripped off with a TPB or buying the venomous series itself on e-bay, so thankyou Astonishing!

the great thing about it is you get 3 stories, bios, a card cover, sometimes freebies and also some original covers for the same price as one american comic! and i've seen some old school trades for £8 (from back in the early 90s) with 3, maybe 4 comics in them. shows how good astonishing's value is

Since I moved to England I've been getting Astonishing Spider-man but since I just came back to florida for a summer trip i'll be stacking up on Amazing from my local comics shop

Thing is tho, while this book might feature 4 stories and has a lotta read, they (Astonishing) are basically worth nothing as back issues.

Comparatively, recent ASM back issues go for greatly increased prices these days.
For this reason I recommend buying the real thing instead.
I’m in the UK myself, and there are specialised comic stores in pretty much every town.

i have hundreds of spider-man issues and theyre worth squat.

i sold a specific issue of wolverine unleashed (similar format) for £10. if people want the issue it doesnt matter if its Uk or US, ppl will pay for it.

case in point: local comic shop has hundreds of different once "sold out" american issues for 20p each and a cupla hundred UK issues for a few pounds each. its all relative, mate.

you havta go back years to get truly valuable comics or get signed/ variants. i mean i've seen, for example, first appearance of ezekiel posted as worth £10 on e-bay but then i've seen someone selling it for £3. the whole collector speculation of value thing is waaaay done. but yeah if i wanted o get venoms first appearance and was rich enough i'd buy the real thing, but otherwise i'd look for an astonishing issue with the reprint/ then buy a trade.

i think astonishing was a good choice. begins with 'A' still and there's no US title with that name already Maybe they should have gone that way with spider-girl...

could somebody from the UK post a scan of astonishing spider-man 75? its where i stopped reading (til last issue and thats probs just for venomous). it has spider-girl with spider-man on the cover. not sure if its an original or not but itd be cool if you could post it with "astonishing spider-man" written on top.at least maybe a couple of us could fill out this thread
