With the release of PS3 Firmware 2.0, custom themes have now been added. Similar to the PSP, Sony has released a tool that will allow users to create their own themes. Basic knowledge of XML and some art skill is all that is needed.

What he said.

I'll definitely have to create a pterodactyl theme at one point.

Oh screw you guys, this is a million times better than the crappy 360 themes you have to pay for.

I never paid for those things before my 360 crapped out on me, and now I just have a world of free pornographic wallpapers for my PC, so this doesn't apply to me at all :o

You don't have to pay for all of them. Hell, I use pics from my computer as my theme.

You don't have to pay for these at all, but that's beside the point when they actually give you the tools to alter everything from the icons to the sound effects. I'm sure they'll release a some official themes based on games that they will charge for, but the system is entirely open unlike Microsofts crappy 'background images that are obscured and crappy.

That's the Neogaf theme coming to impregnate you.

run.

I like this one personally:

I just use PS Media Tunnel to transfer them though, hell of a lot easier than having to use a memory stick

PS Media Tunnel said:
PS Media Tunnel was developed from the desire to access files from a computer directly over a home network.

If you have an internet connection and a home computer, chances are that your Sony PlayStation 3, PSP or Nintendo Wii can also connect to your computer. PS Media Tunnel gives you the ability to leverage the internet services available on these consoles to directly access, download and view many of the media files on your computer.
With PS Media Tunnel you no longer need to burn CD's, or go to any effort to transfer files over the 'sneaker-net' (walking) with disks or memory cards. Simply connect up to your PC and grab the files directly.
