Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

I feel like some of us have already missed out with the ps5 for a couple of months now, it wouldn't hurt if we waited for the ps5 slim (unless its a nightmare acquiring that too in 3 to 4 years from now)

There's also a rumoured Stateof Play for Aug19.

Is there a reason why the Paramount+ app still isn't available for PS5 almost 6 months after launch?

I haven't really kept up. Are Sony still rumoured to be doing a showcase this year or is that likely skipped till next summer? (with State of Plays between now and then)

There's a rumoured September stateof play... however the only 2021game we haven't seen an official footage are the GTA remasters. The eXact date for Horizon 2 is already announced. They could debut an official 1st look for God of War,but in terms of a big Playstation livestream like last year, I think already missed out their chance, unless they have big eXclusives for 2022/2023 to tease that we don't know of,but there's no rumor for those surprised games. Ghost of Tsushima eXpansion is already out, eXpansion for Death Stranding was already revealed in 1 hour Ps Livestream and the new Call of Duty was already revealed elsewhere. The rest of the year imo is already look pretty dry for Playstation releases.

Also a Reveal of the psvr2 isn't eXactly eXciting to me.

I'm feeling more and more like I'm going to wait for whatever 'slim' or second model that comes later in the generation. Even if consoles can be found, the games just aren't there for me and possibly not for a while yet.

The problem for me with waiting on a Ps5 slim is that could be hard to get as wellwhen it arrived. I don't know why to this day, Sony still can't keep with the demand. Surely with dealing covid for over a year, and vaccine rollout, they must have found out a way to make the availability of the console much better than the 1st siX months. I thought it wasjust in my country as we only had 8 set of pre orders since November (the ps5 was launched here in December). But then I read comments from other countries like Germany and New Zealand and the ps5 is also hard to get in those countries... unless you buy it from a scalper (which is the easy way to buy a ps5 in my country as well).

It is reallyjust annoying. But then I looked at my Wait list (I only have 3 2020/2021 games that I must play in the ps5. But I am also not sure if getting aps5 would be easier in Feb or summer of 2022. The waiting just keepson goingfor me.

I wish someone would do something about scalpers in general, but I guess most companies ultimately don't care as long as their products are bought.

I think scalpers are the last thing on government's mind (to most countries). The only country I've heard that might pass a law against people scalping new tech is the Uk.

Ultimately, this falls on Sony. It still doesn't make a sense to me when I could buy (if I want to) a Series X in a retail store (no pre order, no waiting list, can be paid through cash)... but PlayStation 5 is still like a rare Pokémon - which is still online only/requires pre order/out of stock in a few seconds. While the ps5 games, dualSense, and other ps5 accessories can be bought without a hassle (online or retail) anytime.

That's the second time on this page I've seen that the new Xboxes are relatively easy to find in stores. I was under the impression they were still almost as hard to obtain as the PS5. Granted, I haven't really been looking but in my neck of the woods the only console I've seen in stores lately is the Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch bundle.

I went to a retail store last week, and the series X was just sitting neXt to other products like mouse/headphones, they are selling and they aren't even in a locked cabinet. I literally can just grab it and pay it straight away. But then from where I live, XboX isn't as popular as the Switch and PlayStation, and series X is 100 dollars more eXpensive than the ps5.

The PS5 is massively outselling the XSX. Last I checked the PS5 had sold about 70% more units and there would of course be an even larger difference if the component availability issues weren't around. That's the main reason the XSX is easily available.

The large manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung just announced 20% price increases to finance the constructions of their new factories. Too bad those plans weren't made years ago as those won't be built in a day.

Just make it 90% God of War then. I'll be happy with that. :D

Its interesting they are calling it a showcase instead of a state of play not sure if that means much or not.

Now that Horizon is in feb and not this year that means it, GT7 and GOW Ragornork are all 2022 games meaning 2022 is like already set up nicely now sure GOW or GT7 could be pushed to 2023 kind of like how Forbidden west went from late 2021 to early 2022.

I have heard some people complain that we dont really know what's after those 3 games and I think that is silly because you have people complain about seeing games to soon at times. So its like do we really need to know what's like 1.5-2 years out. So I could see the case that we will not see anything that is after those 3 in till next year but I could also see sony showing some stuff that is like 2023. So I think there is stuff they could show.

1. GOW we only have a logo so I think its time to get either gameplay or at least a real trailer like Horizon forbidden west got last year. 2. There have been a lot of rumors about what the other newer SD studio is making the ones who are not behind MLB the show. So maybe we could have it confirmed what they are doing. 3. Second Gorilla games team. 4. Spiderman 2 teaser. Insomanic games is a fast studio and have multiple teams. I think spiderman 2 could be a early 2023 game if not for covid and if not for making miles morales I would have said 2022 game. If its like around a early 2023 game I could see them giving us a short teaser this year and than around middle of next year/late summer giving us gameplay.

I would hope that means it's more like an E3 style event where they show of a lot of different things for an hour or so rather than a more focused State of Play.

I know a lot of people don't like seeing games that aren't in the near future and have no gameplay ready, but I prefer to know what each of the studios have on their slate and to start anticipating, even knowing they could be a long way away and delayed on top of that.

The delay thing is another thing because with covid and work from home and such basically everything is getting delayed to some point even if the game like never got a release date from the start has it was likely delayed from with in meaning if they where thinking we could get it out late 2021 it will likely end up being more like middle early 2022 and I think companies are going to try to wait a little longer to give dates in hopes that they dont have to delay it because people dont like delays and I think in the world we leave in people are less patience with delays right now to I know I am. I am kind of in the middle with announcing games way out because it dont brother me its self if a game is announce like 2-3 years out compared to like 6 months but what does bother me is when a game is announced way out and than they go silent with no updates for a long time and that is more likely to happen the father out a game is announced. Like going a year + with no update does start to bother me.

It is a 40 minute presentation, just a bit longer than the last one. So I eXpect the usual suspects

-God of War Ragnarök
-Horizon II Forbidden West
-Forspoken
-Gran Turismo 2
-Death Stranding Director's Cut
-Grand Theft Auto V Remastered
-Call of Duty Vanguard
-Far Cry 6
-Deathloop

I want to see unannounced Ps5 eXclusives for late 2022/early 2023.

I have my doubts Ragnarök would be released neXt year.

And big games are usually announced so ahead of their release date, 2 to 4 years. And Playstation eXclusives are a big eXample for this.
