Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Anyone else here who haven't upgraded to PS5 yet? I already brought all the three 2021 games in my waitlist. I didn't really need to eXperience them through a PS5 since they load up faster than Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and they look great.

I have caught up to PS3/4 games that interest me. I recently got The Last Guardian and LA Noire which weren't in my list since I rarely saw them before in retail stores, so they were like bonus purchases. I feel like if I see The Order 1886 and Red Dead Redemption 1 (if its ported) I would buy those, but they aren't must haves at this point.

So I'm now starting to canvass for a PS5, which I'm not sure if I have to upgrade right now. I look at my wishlist, I have 4 2022 games and 6 2023 games, 5 of those have a PS4 disc and they are all still over $60 dollars. In 2 to 3 years, they would be much cheaper. For 2024 games - Wolverine, Suicide Squad and Death Stranding 2 are the only ones in my wish list. I don't think my 2024 list would be much longer 12 months from now. I will also buy Assassin's Creed Mirage for the PS4 as all my AC games have a PS4 banner.

Long story short, I'm kinda glad that I still don't have a PS5. I feel like I'm saving extra penny not buying these games right away and even if I already got a ps5 and bought those available games, both my ps4 and ps5 would be collecting dusts right now. I want to see what the new Ps5 looks like first and the PS5 Pro as well, so I would have more options when the time comes to really upgrade. 2024 is come by quickly and I'm thinking long term that I would be playing and streaming through the PS5 in the mid 2020s up to the 2030s, but there isn't really a lot of games to catch up right now and neXt year.
The games in my waitlist for 2022/23 right now are:
1. A Plague Tale Requiem
2. Horizon Forbidden West (the DLC being eXclusive to PS5 is the only reason why I haven't played this in the Ps4)
3. God of Ragnarök (I read that this is like a jet in the ps4, which is the main reason why I'm saving this for the ps5)
4. Gotham Knights
5. Hogwarts Legacy
6. Resident Evil 4 (I could buy this for the ps4, if there's a sudden price drop since its a short game)
7. Street Fighter 6
8. Star Wars Jedi Survivor
9. Mortal Kombat 1
10. Spider-Man 2

Those games are just for the PS5. I still have AC Mirage waiting for the ps4. In comparison to my ps4 library, I have 80+ games. I bought at least ten games (some of those through a collection) this year and my ps4 is the slim version. So it would be fitting if I get the newer ps5 model. I already have a physical PS5 copy of Hitman 3 and that is just waiting to be played.

I don't think the number of ps5 games would come close to my ps4 collection, but I now made up my mind that I would be upgrading to the ps5, at least before August of 2024, one year from now. I just hope there would be more games announced later this year and neXt year.

Insomniac are crazy. They seem to be able to put out 3x times as many games as everyone else.

I hope thats for another Marvel game! Could be another Spider-Man spin off like Marvel's Venom or Marvel's Kraven the Hunter.

Probably utilizing the map of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 if thats the case.

I am also waiting for a PS5. Like you, I have plenty of things to play on PS4 still, and not many new exclusives have made me desperate to upgrade.

I played Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 and would reccommend waiting. I found it a bit buggy, and it needed to pause to load the map quite a few times. Sold it quick and will buy it cheap on PS5 for that dlc.

God of War: Ragnarok played surprisingly well on PS4. It ran great, looked great. That was just on my dusty old slim model too. I doubt I'd even know the difference playing that on 5.

It should outsell the PlayStation 3 in the neXt 5 years, assuming we don't get the PlayStation 6 until Q4 of 2028.

Its eXtra 1 year should be able to cross the over sales of PS1 and PS4 (117million).

I'm hoping to join the Ps5 club in less than 1 year.

My ps4 slim is turning 7 neXt year, and I would look like to use it for several more years mostly for streaming movies and shows. I just played a 2016 videogame (The Last Guardian) and I can hear the jet noises, so what else more with a longer and more demanding game like Ragnarök. So thats why I'm saving it for the PS5.

As for games to play. I have a 80+ games library just for the ps4. However, aside from finishing GTA San Andreas, GTA III, Resident Evil Village and buying AC Mirage in October. I have nothing else new to play anymore for the PS4.

I think Red Dead Redemption remaster would be another, but I probably got a ps5 before its 50% cheaper.

New PS5 Model Will Reportedly Run Cooler - PlayStation LifeStyle

This sounds eXciting. No liquid metal. The current price of PS5 from where I live is $600. I don't know if I should wait for a newer model and pro, especially if its sold for the same price. But PS5 Pro is reported for November 2024, and I don't think I still could wait for that and I don't really need a pro version.

Cooler sounds good.

Maybe they will do a price cut on PS5 when the Pro comes out.

Probably, it should.

However PS5 Pro is still more than 1 year away, if we believe the 2024 November target release.

People will take it if it's quieter and cheaper even if Sony's aesthetics lately have been less than impressive.

I set a date when will I buy a PS5. However, if i wait for a PS5 Pro in late 2024, I fear that might be hard to buy as well like when the ps5 was in its first several months.

I just hope I finally have the new console before GTA VI is released. I will buy and play that game at launch!

That tweet about ps5lim is not encouraging as well. I thought that the final version of the ps3 looked pretty ugly compare to the original ps3, so it wouldn't surprised me if the design is worse.

This is still just a rumor, though.

I honestly just wish they look like the current blu ray players of Sony. Nothing special but they doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Playstation 5 just looks quite distracting, and you cannot keep it in a closed cabinet since it would make a noise. My wifi router and telephone are hidden in a cabinet.
