Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

If the Ps5 pro flops hard enough, then Sony is gonna lose money on all of the R&D they spent on it. Microsoft should market the hell out of CoD on gamepass to ramp up subscriptions as well as Series X sales
If it sells badly its not over without competition, as they can reduce the price and most of those staying away will then jump in. They don't have to fear too many jumping ship. CoD on game pass along with the full first party Xbox lineup exclusive would have been a serious threat but I don't think CoD on its own is enough when most games from both consoles will be available on PS. This strategy shift from Xbox will be IMO worse for Xbox gamers (obviously) as well as PS gamers longer term.

Regardless what else comes for PS6, I will buy it for Spider-Man 3 alone

I haven't played either of the Spider-Man games yet, only because my backlog is so long.

But when I do eventually get to it, I think I might only play the first game, and the Ps4 version at that. Simply because I want to experience the game with how Peter Parker originally was supposed to look, and I didn't appreciate what Sony/Insomniac did with the recasting/remodeling later on.

I liked how he looked in the PS4 version more. But if I am being honest, I didn't overtly care about the redesign happening. It didn't really bother me much at all. I have loved all 3 Insomniac Spider-Man games so far.

In terms of my backlog, the ones that Playstation Studios released. I'm only behind God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2 and Horizon Forbidden West. Miles Morales and Ghost of Tsushima Expanded Edition play very well under my PS4. I'll play Astro Bot when its cheap but its not a must play for me. Stellar Blade is a third party game so as Death Stranding 2 which is for next year. Wolverine is coming out in 2026? If they announced a "big" Sony game later this year, it wouldn't come out next year.

Ragnarok, SM2 and Horizon FW is an awaesome lineup waiting for you! 3 great sequels.

Great. Hopefully we finally see some of the big guns roll out.

That's what most of us would like but Sony execs are very likely thinking the opposite and how they can divert a few hundred million by cancelling a high profile single player game and taking another 8 throws of the dice to get another Helldivers 2.
they just canceled a high profile multiplayer game which they diverted a few hundred million dollars to for almost a decade, and it was the biggest disaster in the history of playstation software. if Sony execs don't learn ANY lesson from that, then they deserve to keep on sinking.

The lesson they will likely learn is to limit the budgets of the live service crap and be ready to cancel them if it looks like production is going to drag on for years. The single player stuff isn’t as endlessly monetisable long term so I can see them going further in this direction and seeing the future running costs of Concord as money “intelligently” saved to divert those resources to cheaper live service titles. Without “high performance” console competition, I think the move towards live service and away from high budget single player (high budget anything) will accelerate.

not if they charge for games like this, it won't. I mean, one of the reasons Concord failed was because it was $40, right? It looked just like Overwatch, which was free, so why would someone interested in a game like that pay for it if they can get it for free? especially given that if you play on playstation you also have to pay $80 minimum just to play Concord online.

whereas the last time I checked, a subscription isn't needed for f2p games.

I think they know they F’d up with Concord on multiple fronts. I think the lesson learned will be to do live service better and cheaper and with no barriers to entry. No move to putting more resources back into their market-leading single player games.

by no barriers to entry, do you mean that you think Sony will start offering f2p live service games?

20 games? HZD Remastered will surely be one of them.

Also looking forward to GoW 2018 Remastered, HFW Remastered and Bloodborne Remastered The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered. :o

I could see them also doing Spider-Man... yeah I know they already did an upgrade, but now it's a remaster for the Pro! :o Maybe even Batman Arkham Knight remastered...

I will forever miss OG Peter. I loved that first game, and grew so attached to that incarnation that the recast really did impact my enjoyment of the franchise going forward. SM2 really came and went for me too, underwhelming despite the excellent swinging.

It’s one of the options to compete better with much of what’s out there. Not saying they will definitely go for this particular option as they want to have their cake and eat it, but they will
be looking at ways to make sure they’re are no more Concords with no player base at launch.
