Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Sony already owns Crunchyroll. If they get their hands on Kadokawa, they would have another big chunk when it comes to anime.

Hooray for consolidation...
everything is fair game now that Microsoft already bought the biggest piece of the industry.

There's still not a Sony acquisition that intrigues me. I feel like Microsoft buying Bethesda/Activision were such big power moves, even if it didn't actually help Xbox. And I'm still waiting for Sony's turn to really shake the gaming industry.

I don't know what Kadokawa is and I simply ignore these countless Soulslike games (because I know I wouldn't have fun with them). So this would be similar to Sony acquiring Bungie, Firesprite, Firewalk, Haven, etc. Not truly exciting and doesn't impact me as a PlayStation player.

From a gaming perspective I'm much more interested in an acquisition of From Software than what Microsoft bought. FS are in their prime, coming off making one of the best games ever, while Bethesda are making worse and worse games and Blizzard are just becoming more about squeezing money out of players. The latter studios surely make a lot of money but that's not interesting to me as a customer.

When Sony is good, they are really good.

2015 – Bloodborne
2016 – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
2017 – Horizon Zero Dawn
2018 – Marvel’s Spider-Man / God of War (Winner)
2019 – Death Stranding
2020 – Ghost of Tsushima / The Last of Us Part II (Winner)
2021 – Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
2022 – Horizon Forbidden West / God of War: Ragnarok
2023 – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
2024 – Astro Bot

i thought Astro Bot look excellent from that first trailer, but I'm not in a rush to play it. I hope their upcoming single player games deliver when they come out.

Kadokawa confirms they've received a letter of intent from Sony.

The Disney Fox merger was just a large size acquisition though, wasn't it? To me, Bandai Namco was an actual merger because it was Bandai and Namco coming together.
Yes, technically Disney/Fox was an acquisition.

That's a strong suite, and the list forgot both FF7 Remake and Rebirth so things are actually even better on the GOTY nomination front.

Get over it, fans were unhappy with the Activision acquisition and that was the biggest piece of the pie.
This is awesome I just updated my Portal and the streaming works really well! Although I hope they add the full PS Plus lineup the current selection is decent but the full lineup would be amazing!
Yup, this is very great news for everyone who already has one with Psplus as well as prospective customers too who may have been on the fence or just turned off for it solely being a remote player device

Console wars aside, us PC players might be affected. Future FromSoft releases might no longer be day and date and I'm pretty sure the studio like those PC sales during launch weekend (Elden Ring had almost 900k concurrent players on Steam).

Also, no more FromSoft games for those in regions where PSN is not available...

Maybe they'll treat Fromsoftware similarly to Bungie, wherein whatever gets worked on stays multiplatform.

So who else got the new PS1 DualSense controller?

Aye. More exclusives via buy-out, the beauty of corporate mergers. Hopefully Sony can at least sort out their stupid PSN policy in future.
