There's a new Tekken film coming out this August. Cast has been released as well as two unofficial pictures and a poster, but still no official website or trailer or official pictures. The film is currently in Post-Production.

The film is said to be rated R and is set in 2039.

From the director: "Tekken will not be anything like Mortal Kombat or any of the Lara Croft movies. You will get the feeling of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. A chance to get to know the characters before the inevitable slap down. It will have plenty of 'A' list actors... Our budget is good so we shouldn't have problem there."

From Crystal Sky:
Based on the long running and highly successful Namco video game franchise of the same name, TEKKEN is a high-octane, action packed thriller written for the screen by Alan McElroy (Spawn, The Marine) and to be directed by Dwight Little (Anacondas, Murder at 1600) with fight choreography tentatively by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2, Doom, Red Cliff)
Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world come to compete in the last and greatest sporting event of all time – the Fist Tournament. After World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.
We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a street fighter that enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon Tekken’s powerful and controlling Chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament. With the help of Lucas, an ageing Iron Fist Champion and fight trainer, Jin makes his way through the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.
With futuristic and imaginative sets, a compelling story, and fight sequences combining fighting styles from all over the world – TEKKEN is in line to become one of the greatest action films of all time.

From IMDB:
"Two childhood friends enter the world's largest fighting tournament where they have to battle deadly opponents using every form of Martial Arts known to man. As they fight both friend and foe, their journey takes them deep into the heart of the notorious Tekken Corporation, where they uncover a secret project that could change the world."

Law's got the costume spot on, Jin's got the look. I think the actor playing Law has fake facial hair that they put on him.

holy cow :wow: Tekken movie for real?

looks to be that casting is spot on for everybody (ok yeah Law can use some 'stash). but they got Luke Goss, that crazy schoolgirl from Kill Bill, the dude from Shodown in Little Tokyo, and everybody else has a strong likeness to the VG characters.

really hoping this will be good, and if the hype is true, better than MK.

Mortal Kombat already felt like Enter the Dragon.
And this guy looks nothing like Marshall Law.
And it will probably not be better than Mortal Kombat, considering the fact that Mortal Kombat is the only good video game movie so far.

Interesting news. Im not going to expect much from this since I have a gut feeling it will end up being like MK despite what the director says.

Adapting video games into movies is never a good idea.

Gary Daniels is in this? :wow: Is it going to theaters, or straight to DVD?

Who is distributing this again?

No studio has North American rights, that I know of. It's from production company Crystal Sky Pictures (I think). imdb.com has budget at 35 million.

Is the big bear going to be in it?

Then you need Ogre, and Ogre was a terrible idea. There's more than enough plot to either make this film or break it. I hope it's going to be good.

Here's another synopsis I found:
Jin Kazama is a young and talented fighter who has a dark power within him. The Devil Gene he has inherited from his father, Kazuya Mishima, is slowly tearing him apart and consuming his mind with evil and hate. He now realizes that the only way he can save himself is to confront both his father and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, both of whom have their own agendas for Jin's power. All of this comes to a head at The King of Iron Fist Tournament, Jin's one chance at confronting his father and grandfather to defeat them and redeem his soul.

Apparently King is in it too and he's the current champion.

so this will be Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa second video game movie. He played Shang Tsung in MK movie. Gary Daniels was in City Hunter with Jackie Chan they both played Street Fighter characters, funny scene too, Jackie as Chun Li.

Gary had to feature in at least one of the martial arts video game adaptions, sooner or later.

My only regret is that he never got to play Ken properly (City Hunter does'nt count) in an SF movie (Damian Chapa. WTF :cmad: )

I'll be watching this movie just for GD.

well there arent any major movie stars here, so drawing factor for this will be dependent entirely on brand recognition (the Tekken game). they could let loose the first teaser in SDCC and see it eaten up (or torn down) by the target audience. then make their decisions if they would go wide release or straight-to-dvd.

honestly this cast look way better than anything DBZ or SF ever has, and those are getting theater distribution.

Really hope this turns out good, I have SERIOUS doubts, but used to love Tekken, so hope its awesome.

I recall when this first came out in arcades...this intro would scare the **** out of me. That dark ass arcade and suddenly, bam.

This movie has the potential to be better than MK. I'm loving the cast.

Ok, they might actually do something strong with this.

With an R rating, this could become a slippery slope with future video game projects. Let's hope it turns out well.

Sorry guys but this has B movie written all over it. The director did things like Murder at 1600 and Rapid Fire before moving to TV.

And look at the cast. Cung Le is playing Law. Listen Cung Le is an awesome fighter. He's a credit to Strikeforce and a great champion. But MMA fighters star in B or small movies. Randy Couture had a bit role in Redbelt, and then does a direct to video Scorpion King movie. Ken Shamrock? Was a co-star in that Scarecrow movie where Tara Platt awesomely showed her boobs . . . again B-movie. He was also in another B-movie with Danny Trejo where he's forced into being a cage fighter.

Duuuude! Tekken movie at last. Guilty pleasure of mine, have to admit. Don't care how this ends up, I'm watching. And an R-rating? Sweet.
