The Others remake

Now THIS is a remake which is simply not needed. I don't see how they can update and bring something to it that wasn't already there twenty years ago.

But we'll see.

I'm not a Nicole Kidman fan, but she's great in The Others and it's a great movie. I rewatched it not long ago, and it looks just as good now as it did when it came out. It's fantastically atmospheric - and downright creepy. There's nothing that needs redoing. I can't even see how they could put a new spin on it; The Others was the new spin (on The Turn of the Screw, famously filmed as The Innocents in 1961). Pointless.

yeah this seems pretty friggin' pointless

its a great movie, but it's not like it was even hugely popular when it came out, so who is the demographic calling for this remake?

The original is great. This is...whatever.

It was hugely popular when it came out. Especially outside of the US.

The point is more that, in my opinion, the times and filmmaking haven't changed enough in order to justify the remake of this story.

The times have changed in other ways, but which I can't see having any impact on this particular story, though.

Wasn’t “the twist” one of the huge selling points? How are they going to update that?

This remains an all-time great. Why are we doing things like this instead of accessing older horrors that could actually use a remake?

I don't know, but I wonder whether Get Out is gonna be remade in 2022 or 2023.

That being said, this feels like the sort of thing Mike Flanagan might do a good take on.
