Well people will click on it if they want to watch, or not if they don't want to. How much more can it give away though if you've seen the original film? It's already spoiled for those in that position without even watching a trailer.

When Sofia Coppola announces that she’s doing a remake of a 1971 Don Segal flick you can't help but be enticed. It's Sofia Coppola! Though I wasn’t fond of her previous theatrical release being The Bling Ring back in 2013, it was great to see that she’s back at it with a new take on a classic film.

I just watched this right after watching the original for the first time and it was so mediocre, 5/10 tops. Everything that was interesting, edgy or 'controversial' about the original was taken out and the characters were mangled in the process. Hell, the soldier in the original was at least purposefully leading them on here Farrell's character was so innocent the women really did come off as vengeful *****es and for no reason whatsoever because the writing is so atrocious. The sexual tension between him and the headmistress, teacher and the oldest student is so well presented and gradually built in the original, here everything comes out of nowhere. What a waste of good actors, they did their best but nothing comes close to the performances from the original because the characters there were so much more interesting. Previously I was lamenting Jackman wasn't cast as a soldier, not that Farrell was bad, but it would be such a great casting but not even him could have saved it because the script and the characters are so thin. The nicest thing I can say about this movie is that at least Elle Fanning had more to do here than in The Neon Demon.

btw Elizabeth Hartman's performance in the original was magnificent, I was gutted to read she committed suicide in her forties.

Jackman should've been cast instead, but then he'd be compared to Eastwood. Not that that's a bad thing.
