The Raid Star Iko Uwais to star in Netflix martial arts show ‘Wu Assassins’

Finished the first episode. Action is excellent. Looks like a fun series.

Oh sweet I didn’t know this was out already.

So far, I'm up to episode 6! Pretty entertaining show with lots of awesome fight scenes! Dialogue isn't great and also NOT ENOUGH MARK DACASCOS, especially in the fight scenes!

Really like the cast, though.

Still gotta finish Glow before I start this...

The fight scenes are all awesome. The rest is alright but still an entertaining and fun show

I enjoyed this show enough overall and while I would definitely watch another season I do hope they improve on some of the storytelling aspects and the dialogue for Season 2. As great as the fight scenes were I couldn't help but feel that this show was lacking in so many areas. I didn't like how Tommy Flanagan's character was handled at the end, and I'm still kind of confused about the motives of Byron Mann's character. I did enjoy Iko Uwais as the lead and I hope to see him as the leading man in more stuff.

Luis Tan and Katheryn Winnick were good in this too and I didn't mind the actress who played Jenny either. Mark Dacascos seemed like he was having quite a bit a fun too, but I do wish that they did a bit more with him.

I liked Kai and Uncle Six's relationship and story by the end. After everything, they really were father and son!

I loved the diner scene with them just trying to have a nice breakfast and laughing then Uncle Six giving the racist waitress a history lesson and referring to Kai his son. Then having some tag team action. Also them talking by the fire at night about why Uncle Six took in Kai. The feels!!

Those were definitely two of my favourite scenes in the series, aside from the fights!

Yeah Byron Mann and Iko Uwais had some really good chemistry in their scenes. You could really tell that they had a close father/son relationship, and that scene at the diner made it even more apparent.

I started this last night. The beginning is solid but then the Wu Assassin stuff just kinda comes out of nowhere. The transition is very jarring. I also didn’t need to see the entire opening sequence again, just with Dacascos thrown in periodically. The fights are cool though and Byron Mann, Iko Uwais and Kathryn Winnick are always good so I figure I’ll watch the rest.

I started watching this. Only a few episodes in but it's alright and I'll keep watching. Katheryn Winnick :hrt:

Some of the music choices don't really fit. Like all of a sudden it turns into a 2002 Jet Li movie with all that rap. I'm waiting for DMX to show up.

'Wu Assassins' Standalone Film 'Fistful of Vengeance' Set at Netflix - Variety

“Wu Assassins” is continuing at Netflix with a standalone movie.

The film, titled “Fistful of Vengeance,” will be 90 minutes and will bring back series stars Iko Uwais, Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, and JuJu Chan Szeto. In addition, Pearl Thusi, Francesca Corney, Jason Tobin, and Rhatha Phongam will also star in the film.

According to an individual with knowledge of the series, the show could still potentially return for a second season or other another standalone story. The film is set to shoot in Thailand with production services provided by Living Films.

Cameron Litvack, Jessica Chou, and Yalun Tu — all of whom were writers on Season 1 of the show — are writing the film. Roel Reiné, who directed multiple episodes of the show, will direct the film.

Should be fun, plus Jason Tobin, who was awesome in Warrior!

No Li Jun Li's Jenny? **** this.

Still looks like a pretty fun action movie.

I never got back to watching the rest of this show. Is it worth it? That new movie looks okay.

Main question is, is Lewis Tan good in this or is he as incredibly awful and wooden as he was in Mortal Kombat?

I found the show to be kinda meh, but Tan was fun to watch. Don't let MK color your view of him. The director let almost all of the actors down aside from Lawson.

Yeah, that is true. Nobody but Lawson came off very well on that film. Maybe I’ll give this another shot. I do love Iko after all.
