Part of me watches the scene where Frank shields Karen as her apartment is shot up and is like, "I wish it had been Matt who showed up at Karen's apartment and shielded her from the bullets."
Frankly, I wish that they had had Matt be the one to shield Karen as her apartment was shot up, not Frank. Of course, the problem is that it would've made for a different back half to season 2 and also probably would've changed Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders and onwards. Because The Hand's attack on the hospital was happening at the time that Karen's apartment got shot up. If Matt wasn't busy dealing with the former, he absolutely would have protected Karen.
And with that said, Karen would certainly have been receptive to Matts help if it had in fact been him who had come to her apartment and shielded her (because blind human shield Matt Murdock saving her life twice in one day would be enough), and she'd be convinced enough to let him assist her with her investigation into the Blacksmith from there on out. But this would've come at a price: Matt wouldn't have been guarding the hospital, meaning the Hand's attack would likely have been worse. Claire would likely have been injured if not killed, and if she did live, her view of vigilantism would definitely be one that'd make her less inclined to assist Luke or Danny.
