What are the songs you listened to through different chapters of your life? The songs you can look back on nostalgically or songs that struck a chord with you personally through its lyrics or maybe because the song came during a particularly memorable time in your life?

AR Rahman’s ultra kick ass Chaiya Chaiya, which is just a masterpiece fusion of sufi and western music styles.

Thomson Twins - Sister of Mercy. This to me is such a vastly underrated song. I love the chorus and would repeatedly listen to it and still do

Lots of general 80s music and 80s rock as a kid, Kajagoogoo, Tears for Fears, Human League, Talking Heads, Phil Collins,

Then going into teenager and still to this date, I am a major 80s hard rock/heavy metal fan. The two artists/bands that have stayed with me always are Iron Maiden and Joe Satriani. These are two of my favorite bands. I listen to all of their songs through various stages of life and states... first crush, first girlfriend, first heartbreak... I’d play so much satriani through out high school and college while endlessly studying and cramming for exams... these bands helped me during major younger moments of self-doubt and feelings of social awkwardness (the latter of which I still have to a degree but thankfully almost all of my self doubt is gone).

Sorry that post isna bit rambling but the question you ask is really tough to fit into one post!!! :)

My childhood....

Lyrically I mean, not the time period.....

Childhood: eurodance was in every toaster. Snap! - Rhythm is a Dancer. Ace of Base - All That She Wants.

Teens, high school: grunge and punk. Nirvana - In Utero album. The Offspring - Smash and Americana albums.

College days: various kinds of metal. Tool - Lateralus album.

Post-college: alternative and pop music. Crystal Castles, CocoRosie...

Now: mix of everything. Mostly various weird **** + retro synth.
