I just finished reading this. It's by Royce Prouty. It basically reminded me of The DaVinci Code mixed with Dracula. It kept my attention for sure, and had the ending been better, I'd go as far saying it was a great read. Anyone else read it?

I've not heard of it, but I'm intrigued. I've read Stoker's original a few times.

Check out the synopsis online, and see if it's something you'd be interested in. I had never heard of it either, but I'm always just taking chances on things from the library.

I've just read the summary on Goodreads - very much so. I enjoy Dan Brown's novels as well.

Yeah I like Dan Brown as well. If you like those two, then I think you'd enjoy it. Like I said, had the ending been a bit stronger I'd have absolutely loved it. That seems to happen a lot with my recent reads though...strong story right up to the end then meh...

Thanks for the rec!

Out of interest, ever read any Chris Kuzneski? I got into him because I enjoyed Dan Brown. It's in a similar vein - maybe a little bit more action orientated.

The name sounds really familiar, but I can't place anything. Is there something in particular you'd recommend from him?

Glancing along my bookshelf, The Prophecy, The Lost Throne, The Secret Crown, The Death Relic, and Sign of the Cross are all good.

Does he have an overarching main character like Brown, or are they different every time?

Yes,

Kuzneski's first seven novels (and also his ninth) follow the adventures of Jonathon Payne and David "D.J." Jones, former members of the MANIACs—an elite Special Forces unit in the U.S. military. Although the main characters are ex-soldiers, the novels are not "military" thrillers. Instead, they are often compared to the works of Clive Cussler and James Rollins. Kuzneski's thrillers are known for their action, adventure, and humor.

They're an entertaining team with some genuinely witter banter in the midst of all hell breaking loose :yay:

No, I didn't read them in the order they were published and I didn't find any problems.

Hope you enjoy - I'll keep my eye out for The Stoker Manuscripts as well

Hi. Just finished reading this and returned as promised to let you know what I thought. I enjoyed it. I found the story a little bit predictable but it was definitely an enjoyable yarn.I take your point about the ending. Actually I wonder whether there'll be a sequel, seeing as [BLACKOUT]Joseph is still out there in Romania - his name not having been cleared in the US - and Radu is still doing whatever he does in the northern Carpathians, yet to be reunited with his wife who's still lying under Sonia's floorboards[/BLACKOUT]. I'm glad I read it!
