It would appear that the US President has been briefed by Phoenix scientists about the discovery of something more "provocative" than the discovery of water existing on the Martian surface. This news comes just as the Thermal and Evolved Gas Analyzer (TEGA) confirmed experimental evidence for the existence of water in the Mars regolith on Thursday. Whilst NASA scientists are not claiming that life once existed on the Red Planet's surface, new data appears to indicate the "potential for life" more conclusively than the TEGA water results. Apparently these new results are being kept under wraps until further, more detailed analysis can be carried out, but we are assured that this announcement will be huge…

You can read the rest of it here. I wonder what they found?

i think the key word is potential, we're moving to mars! :wow:

hmm should be interesting, though what will be kept from the public

after we're done trashing this planet, we can move on to Mars!!

If the president is briefed, I guess it must be a big deal. Have they found micro organisms in the water?

Damn liberals won't let us drill for oil on mars :cmad:

Maybe they'll announce a mission to Mars?

Don't over-react.

Chances are they found a fossil of a micro-organism or plant.

IF we see the real discovery...dum dum dum! *lightning crashes*

HELL YEAH!!! I hope its something substantial. Like a fossil of some kind like maybe a plant or something, or some kind of organism. I can't wait and the way NASA has briefed the White House and being super secretive means its something that shouldn't be taken lightly. I hope to god though that they don't cover whatever it is with some bullcrap cover story. If what they tell us is in anyway lame I'm calling BS on it, and will forever be convinced they found something.

I wonder if they are being careful and consulted the white house, because it's substantial enough to cause religious controversy? The bible and other religious texts makes it sound like we are special in the universe and life on another planet is would show a blatant error in these texts possibly discrediting them, and that could cause religious turmoil. Me personally I don't care if it's controversy. We should know. However, this does worry me, because they might cover ti up to avoid a controversy. That would piss me off so bad. Stuff like that is the reason for the dark ages. The church got scared and hid everything that could discredit the Bible. I mean no offense to any religious people here. I am not against you, I am against what happened in the middle ages. This time however, this will not happen. Religion is not holding back the truth from me. If I have to break down NASA's door myself the truth will be known.

i thought this was cool. the best possible thing would be fossils, because that way when we go there, everything will be dead and we wont end up like that stephen king story with the eyes on the guys hands.

yes i know he went to venus, same stuff, only this is up the planet chain.

I think they found Osama. He's been hiding on Mars, the clever little bastard!

it's probably the smallest creature imaginable or some time of plant life. either way mcdonalds will make it to mars before any of us do.

very interesting, i am very excited to see what it could possibly be. :yay:
