■ A New Day Scenario
That day, a video suddenly streamed into Neku’s head—. Buildings disappeared one by one, and someone’s voice could be heard.
“Everything, disappear.”
After coming to, Neku found himself in the middle of Shibuya Crossing. He was in a different place until a few minutes ago—what is happening here? Neku, confused, receives a familiar e-mail on his phone.
That e-mail informed him that the death game’s “Hard Mode” had begun….
New Character: Coco
Coco is a reaper girl who loves Harajuku-style fashion. She is an energetic, cheerful, and calculating person who will barge her way into any conversation.
The mission of the death game’s Hard Mode is to get out of Shibuya within 24 hours. Although they have their doubts, Neku and company explore Shibuya to acquire information.
Images occasionally stream through Neku’s head. Some of those images Neku has no memory of. Were his memories stolen as the entry fee to Hard Mode like the previous death game, or is it something else?
Neku shouts the name of Shiki’s stuffed animal. Shiki and Rhyme, who were Neku and Beat’s partners in the previous death game, also seem to be participating in Hard Mode.
Yashiro and Kariya also appear in A New Day. It seems that even the Reapers know nothing about the newly begun Hard Mode.
What is the significance of Joshua and Hanekoma’s conversation? Just what is going on in Shibuya?
■ New Noise
In A New Day, Noise with different appearances than standard Noise will appear. On the scan screen, violet-colored Noise symbols will become visible.
■ Mission Battles
Various new missions will appear during battle in A New Day. There are a total of five types. Multiple types of missions may also occur at the same time.
Curse Mission
A mission that gradually lowers Neku’s HP during battle.
Restore Mission
A mission that slightly heals Neku’s HP each time he attacks a Noise during battle.
Split Mission
A mission that splits and steadily multiples Noise during battle.
Sync Rave Mission
A mission that doubles the amount of Sync Rate built up during battle.
Raven Ball Mission
A mission where a ball appears that damages Neku when touched during battle.
■ New Pins
By performing the operation specified for each equipped pin in battle, you can activate its technique. There are also “Set Pins,” which enable the use of powerful techniques or activate special effects by equipping a combination of specific pins. Below we will introduce a couple of the new pins appearing in A New Day.
Tyrant Rakshasa
By tapping a Noise, swords will fire in their direction. Ideal for shooting at Noise.
Witchcraft
A set pin. By slashing a Noise from top to bottom, the character will perform a thrust attack from above the enemy and release a circle of flames will that also damages nearby Noise. Since this is a set pin, two other pins must be combined with it.
■ Local Two-Player
By selecting “Two-Player Play” from the menu screen, you can select the number of players. When playing with two players, your partner’s techniques are displayed as pins in the lower-right of the screen. By moving the Joy-Con with reference to the pattern on the pin, its technique will be activated.
—You can check how to activate your partner’s techniques via the Tips feature.
—By working together to damage Noise, your Sync will increase your damage bonus.
■ Pin Slammer
Pin Slammer (known as
Marble Slash in the Japanese version) is one of the popular games of Neku’s world. Its high popularity even leads to a tournament being held in Shibuya. Players can enjoy
Pin Slammer as a mini-game.
—In order to clear their mission, Neku and company appear for the Pin Slammer tournament. Will they be able to attain the victory they came for?
—Since Pin Slammer is such a popular game, there are many strong players.
In
Pin Slammer, players win by slashing marble-like pins and dropping their opponent’s pins off the stage. The pins you use in the game are the same pins you have equipped outside the game. Just like in battle, there will be differences depending on the pins you have equipped, so check your pins, then enter the world of
Pin Slammer.
—There are also assists to not drop pins and recovery gimmicks. But since they can only be used a limited number of times, use them when the time is right, and get the opponent to drop their pins off the arena.
The World Ends with You: Final Remix is due out for Switch on September 27 in Japan, and October 12 in North America and Europe.
