Last year Davey Jones rightfully got a lot of attention and was added by many to that illustrious villain Hall of Fame chaired by Darth Vader but this man is the most cold blooded, sadistic and down right frightening villain ive ever seen on screen, every scene he is in drips with tension and menace, the fear he will do something horrid to one of the ppl unfortunate enough to be near him looms large constantly.

I present Capitán Vidal

What say you hypesters ?

hooray for capt. vidal! i though he was a great villain. maybe not one of the best, but definately somewhere near the top, at least.

i don't get all the davey jones love, though... mabye after at world's end, but what did he have in part 2, like, 6 minutes of screen time?

He was a great villain...agreed.

But Davey Jones doesn't belong in the same sentence as Darth Vader.

darth vader doesn't make for much of a villain considering at the end, he turns on the bad guyes. he has the voice and costume, but little in terms of personality development and his scenes aren't filled with dread that vidal had. but that's probably a fault of the directors and actors. really, when vader steps into a scene, it's not subdued hushes, but just chuckles of familiarity, not of dread or discomfort. a villain to be iconic as a great villain needs presence and vader lacks that. vidal makes for a better villain.

Vidal is easily one of the easiest characters to hate and hardest to in even the smallest way like ever depicted on celluloid.

Vidal was a vicious bastard in Pan's Labyrinth. i loved him.

awesome character...f**king hated him

Why is there a train behind him? I never saw that in Pan's Labyrinth...

Agreed,I was looking forward all movie to him getting his ,I was yelling at Mercedes after she slashed him and left "go back and finish him!!":woot:

It was the part where the rebels blew up the train to distract Vidal and his men so they could rob the store room,it was followed by the gun battle i the hills where the captured the poor stuttering guy

Yeah Hunter, I agree with most of the people here, as of DMC, Davey Jones does NOT belong in a Villan HOF. Maybe I might think of him differently with AWE.

Are you serious? A villain doesn't have to fill his scene with "dread" in order to be powerful. Its what he can do to his enemies that defines him, and Vader certainly was a powerfully antagonistic force to the Rebels. THAT is what made him powerful.

And it doesn't matter if he becomes good later on or not. He was a villain throughout most of the movie.

And what the hell is a "chuckle of familiarity"? I did chuckle at that line though.

How did i know before reading this thread, who the character in question would be? Ha ha, wouldnt say Vidal was the best, but he definately up there, awesome villain and great performance!!!

yeah, Vidal is a f*** sun of a b***. Like someone said, is beyond evil.

Vidal was such a great villain. I don't think I was ever happier to see a villain suffer such a harsh death.

Vidal was a vicious son of a b!tch.
I definitely agree with him being an elite villain.

Davey Jones, on the other hand is OVERRATED, just like Dead Man's Chest is. His SFX is easily some of the best of all-time, but he definitely didn't shine long enough to even be consider an elite villain.

if you seriously don't think Vader is an iconic villain, i don't know what to tell you.

Best f**king villain of the year. I wanted to gouge his eyes out and shove 'em up his loathesome ass.

I was so happy when he [blackout]had his mouth slit[/blackout].

The idea is that she knew if his cronys found him dead, they'd have just shot her on sight, but she knew that if he were still alive he'd have ordered them to bring her back.

Tonight was the last night at the independant theatre around here, I just got back from seeing it for the 13th x, still moves me to tears.
Ofelia is as powerful a protagonist as Vidal is an antagonist, this is easily one of the greatest movies ever.
