Fellowes Adapts Titanic, Agatha Christie

By Garth Franklin Monday March 21st 2011 10:19AM
Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park") has lined up two high profile new projects - a mini-series about the Titanic, and a feature film based on Agatha Christie's "Crooked House" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The "Titanic" project is a four-hour TV miniseries U.K.-Hungary-Canada co-production. The story follows the lives of different characters ranging from steerage passengers to upper class guests during the last hours of Titanic’s maiden voyage in 1912.

ABC, Global TV and ITV will produce the project which begins shooting on location in Hungary this spring.

Better than that, a certain angel will bring back the Titanic.

Planned to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the infamous vessel's launch and subsequent loss early next year, "Titanic: Blood and Steel" is being planned as a television miniseries to air in 12 parts. Casting now underway, Variety reports that Derek Jacobi (Gladiator, The King's Speech) has signed on with Neve Campbell (Scream, Wild Things) and Chris Noth (Cast Away, Sex in the City) likely to do so as well.

Jacobi will play Lord William Pirrie, responsible for the company that constructed the vessel. Noth would appear as J.P. Morgan and Campbell a period reporter.

A "prequel" of sorts to traditional narratives regarding the ship (Titanic, A Night to Remember), "Blood and Sand" will concentrate on the construction of the RMS Titanic and the sociopolitical climate of the era.

Ciaran Donnelly ("The Tudor", "Stardust") will direct with production, which is beginning immediately in Serbia.

I'm very interested in this one,I just finished reading"Titanic's Last Secrets"..In which talks about the new conclusive fact that Titanic went down by breaking up on the surface(instead of going down in one piece)due to the ship's steel being build weak and the deaths were even worse than thought of and it was covered up by Pirrie/Morgan&others to protect the White Star Line company!!

I hope the writers/producers or somebody have read the book or at least about the new info and put it into the mini series,The book also has very detailed info about the life's of those people/during the accident and the aftermath with reporters and people being questioned in court!!
