Toejam & Earl 4 can be made . but only with your help.

Any 'Toejam & Earl' fans here? The original creators have started a Kickstarter project to make a sequel that's true to the roots of the early 90's original game. (SEGA doesn't own TJ & E, they do)

The preview looks awesome. I have some really good memories playing the original in the early 90's so I'm a big supporter of this. SEGA forced the creators to make the dumb sequels that weren't true to the spirit of the original, but since there's no publisher interference this time they're free to go back to basics. Often, Kickstarter projects are crap, but this is one I totally believe in and have put a good chunk of my money into it since it went live.

I remember the sequels all getting great reviews. Anyway, I wish this game luck. I figured after the success of Might No. 9 on Kickstarter we'd start seeing more game projects.

Oh man, I LOVED Toejam and Earl back in the day. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the art direction they have going for here. Hopefully it'll improve.

So, was the IP actually not owned by Sega or something? I skimmed through the page but I didn't see any real explanation about how this is possible.
