Video Interview: Superman Producer, Chris Lee, Hints at the Future - During the video interviews with Richard Donner, Michael Thau and Jack O’Halloran for the Superman II: The Donner Cut DVD release, they all hinted at perhaps future Superman storylines involving the infamous villains, Zod, Ursa and Non.


So when we talked with Superman Returns producer Chris Lee, we had to ask if there was any truth to this. Will our favorite Kryptonian villains return for another round with Superman?

Lee says to watch for the clues given in the film, also the game coming out from EA will hold clues as to what, or who, is to come. You can get more info on that here at EA.

i wouldnt judge too fast man. think about the possibilities of the action scenes with two characters with the same strength. think smith vs. neo. a fight like that could take out a whole city. especially when superman is in rage after zod offs superbaby.

it really annoys me, there is almost unlimited, untouched source material out there for Superman. Comics that are just plain great that beg to adapted or at least sampled and they just really dont seem to be going that way.

I agree,i enjoyed SR and he sort of bridged the cinematic gap but he needs the sequel to be fresh and removed from Donner and the old films,using Zod will simply confirm what his detractors say,he has no vision of his own for the character

Superman sequel grounded?


Superman Returns director Bryan Singer has cast doubt over any further films in the franchise, telling Associated Press that the first film’s lacklustre showing meant the prospect of sequels was “iffy”.
Languishing in production hell for many years saw the final budget for Superman Returns blow out to $260 million (according to some estimates).
Yet it has struggled to reach $180 million at the US box office, putting it behind many of this year’s other blockbusters including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, X-Men: The Last Stand, Cars, and The Da Vinci Code – all of which cost less to make.
Studio Warner Bros is still considering whether to greenlight a sequel, which would theoretically appear in 2009.

doesn't matter how great the effects would be or how great the story would be...if Singer goes with Zod it'll show that he's not willing to give the fans what they want which is something fresh.

Raimi hated Venom but the fans wanted him so he gave in and ended up forming a great appreciation for the character....I hope Singer can be the same way instead of sticking strictly to the Donner movies.

I doubt it'll be Zod. Or if he is in it, it may be as a nice little surprise (if it is...the surprise is kinda gone ), but he'd probably work along with another villain/alien.

The more I hear and see of Singer in his interviews, the more I do not want him for the sequel. It seems like his team is too young and too caught up in their own vision to put out a film that would appease fans...no outsourcing or sharing of ideas with people who know the source material is a crime. Research needs to be done people...RESEARCH...not just watching the Donner films over and over again.
