This was a lot of fun. The writing for Shipka was a little rough early on with the GenZ cliches (big dialogue via tweet energy) and the effects in the climax were rough, but once it got going it was a blast! Ella Choi was the breakout star for me. I'd watch a sequel of her and Randall Park hunting down 80's slashers.
True, some of her lines were a bit much. But I liked the running gag of her overthinking lies to fool the security in the 80's only to be dismissed by the indifference of the era.Yeah... 'bully pushes her' "UNWANTED TOUCHING!"
Like huh?
I had the problem with the bolded too. I had the same complaint about the Goosebumps show. The dialogue was so clunky and almost felt like maybe the writers were trying to parody Gen Z people which is possible, but it didn't really work. This was a lot of fun. "Definition of a 'streaming movie'" is a great rating for this movie.Enjoyable, but this is the definition of a "streaming movie". As someone else said, major Disney channel vibes.
