Time to bring this thread back from the dead!

Surprised no-one has posted here. I watched this film recently and it's a gem. There are elements of time manipulation in it, and it will f**k with your head Donnie Darko style, but definitely worth watching. 81% on RT too.

I've seen the film and I just don't understand the motives of the main character if and when she is aware of the situation.

So does this have to do with the Bermuda Triangle and it's wormholes?

After the accident she went back to the harbour to do it better this time and save her son even though the cab driver told her there was nothing she could do for the boy. The cab driver was death. When she got out of the cab she promised to come right back but didn't, so death punished her by making her forget everything (I think that happens when she falls asleep on the boat and thinks she had a nightmare) and relive yet another circle. It's got to do with

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisyphus

Sisyphus was a king punished in the fields of punishment by being compelled to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this throughout eternity.
She tried to cheat death and got punished like Sisyphus, they mention it in the movie.

Done. :hyper:

For some reason I thought the movie was older, feels like I've seen it ages ago.

I saw this awhile ago and one of those seriously mind trip of s movie, of where you don't know whats happening and you think you do, you don't.

And i think the end kinda tells you happen, but I'm not sure.

Oh yeah, I watched a while back too, when the BD came out. Good flick.

I'm considering buying this movie now. This movie is actually quite brilliant and cleverly made. I loved the Aeolus and Sisyphus references. For those who have seen it,

Is the cab driver Satan?

The ending tells you exactly what happened. She died in the car crash going to the Harbor. A clue is given on the ghost ship when they look at the time. Everybody else says its around 10 AM but her clock is stuck on 8:17. She was supposed to meet at the harbor at 8:30.

If you notice, the cab driver seems totally unperturbed at the accident. IMO, I think he is either the angel of Death or Satan. That is why her son doesn't want to go with her and is constantly trying to get out of the car because he has to go through with the death over and over again.

Death or Charon, not Satan.
