Truth or Dare

For a second I thought this was a thread about the Madonna film. :D

Trailer.

I feel like DC could plausibly make a Creeper movie now with those CG faces.

So a quasi-remake of the Final Destination films, then I saw it's directed by Jeff Wadlow, and was like, that seals it for me, no thanks.

I can’t help but imagine that with every project Jason Blum produces, the results are the equivalent to him blindly throwing darts at a wall to see which ones make it on the board. Sometimes he would hit the bullseye with films such as “Get Out” and “Whiplash”. Then, there are movies you’re surprised hit the dartboard to begin with, like “Happy Death Day” and “The Visit”. Beyond that, you get the movies that are so far off the dartboard that the dart lands square in the back of someone’s head (with that someone symbolizing you as an audience member) with movies such as “Jem and the Holograms” and “The Gallows”. So, basically you never know how a Blumhouse movie will go. Now, we have the latest Blumhouse horror film, “Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare,” an MTV-styled movie who’s dart doesn’t hit you at the back of your head, but the bottom of your ass.

I wonder if they realize how unintentionally(?) hilarious those CG troll faces are. People busted out laughing at the trailer during my showing of A Quiet Place.

People say there's a horror renaissance happening now with movies like Get Out and A Quiet Place but there's still stupid bull**** like Truth or Dare being released. The horror genre always had a few really good films here and there, but they're almost always surrounded by nonsense like this.

Yeah, this looks hilariously bad. I was hoping that this would get the coveted 0% on RT, but it looks like it's already at 24%. That's a shame. But hopefully as more reviews come in, it will get lower. That is, if any more critics bothered to see it.

The movie is self aware about that because one of the characters compares the smiles to a snapchat filter.

The kids see, they love the Snapchat.

Awful movie. It's like a horror comedy that doesn't know it's a bad comedy.

Blumhouse movies can be very hit and miss like this.

There are always going to be bad films released in just about any genre, particularly one that is booming like horror.

My review... surprise surprise it was awful.

Imagine the movie Final Destination only dumber. It's got an interesting concept that gets butchered as it goes along. You do not care if they live or die and at certain parts are actually rooting for them to die. They throw in some plot elements that are so obviously foreshadowed. There's a lot of unintentional comedy that kept me going. The way the end this movie is one for the books, it's hilariously outrageous. Overall, it's a really awful horror film that you can enjoy picking apart.
3/10

— ‘Truth or Dare IRL’ — and it begins with Markie and Olivia, Lucy and Violett’s characters,” Wadlow said. “They’re in this scene, and it feels like our ‘Final Destination’ kind-of ‘Truth or Dare’ scene, and Markie starts laughing in the middle of it. You hear, ‘Cut!’ and the director walks on the set, and we do the ‘New Nightmare’ treatment where we reveal that Lucy and Violett are still friends. They’re going to go on this trip with the other actors from ‘Truth or Dare,’ with Tyler, Landon and Sam. Everyone who was in the first film, they’re all buddies, and we find out what happened is the writers of the first film had researched a real demon. Just as Calux can haunt a game in the film, he’s now decided to haunt a movie in the real world. It was scary and surreal and funny and played a lot with subjectivity.”
