Do trailers show too much?

The trailers for Contagion and Paranormal Activity actually showed the final scenes in each film. That's a really stupid thing to do because these scenes are intended as a shock and instead, you sit there waiting for them the entire time.

Hmmm...

I remember the trailer for the first Mission: Impossible spoiling EVERY action sequence in the movie. That was pretty stupid because there weren't very many and so nothing was particularly edge-of-your-seat exciting (though I still like the movie).
