Two juveniles are being questioned after the death of a security guard at a shopping centre on the outskirts of north Belfast.

The guard died at the Abbey Centre at Newtownabbey, Co Antrim at around 2pm.

It is understood two youths went into a Toymaster shop in the mall and tried to steal bags of sweets and were grabbed by staff and handed over to the security guard.

Moments later he collapsed near a nearby stairwell.

The PSNI said it was investigating the death about an hour after the popular shopping mall opened for Sunday trading.

A spokeswoman said the juveniles had been taken to a local police station where they were helping with inquiries.

i've been off the past two days but the word is he was stabbed, this is scary as hell it wouldn't be the first time i've threw kids trying to steal out of the shop i work at.

Well, kids will steal anything, mostly because of boredom. There was a bunch of brats that robbed a Mickey D's over here, and basically jacked the cashier woman for some McNuggets.
