I don't get it. How come there's some hot people with ugly siblings? How is that possible? I could understand if it were a half-sibling but not one that shares the same mom and dad. Weird.

simple, its genetics

It's because parents' genes dole out looks to their kids Mr. Potatohead. One kid can get mom's pretty eyes, dad's average nose, mom's prominent cheekbones, and dad's pointed-yet-rounded chin. Then the next kid comes along, and they get dad's uneven eyes, mom's long pointy nose, dad's flat-faced lack of visible cheekbones, and mom's total lack of a chin.

Same parents, but a different distribution of traits gave us Pocahontas the first time, and a Picaso the second time.

Funny you bring this up because a good friend of mine brought his sister to sit in on our animation class a few days back. Now, I really like my friend, he's a great guy, but lookwise, he looks like a young Peter Jackson. Overweight, long greasy hair, scruffy, wears practically the same thing everday. But I don't care, he's a good guy. So I run into him in the elevator and he introduces me to his sister who's standing next to him. I would NEVER think they were related. She was gorgeous. I just kept staring at the both of them all class trying to think of one feature they had in common. They had dark skin. Dark hair. Because they're Italian. That's about it. But now I'm even happier that he's my friend because now I want to get to know his sister better.

True, but I think that statistically this is uncommon. Normally if someone is good-looking then so will their sibling and vice versa. I think an ugly sibling is a way of God having a good laugh. You were probably an a-hole in the previous life and now you came back as someone's ugly sibling. :o

I rejoice with the silly* threads I'm gonna start when I reach 20,000+ posts

*to be soft, like young Rorschach

I find this quite funny actually, because I was discussing this with My brother Matt last night, he always goes on about him and my brother Mark being the ugly ones, which is really bizzare cus we have the same mum, but they have a much prettier dad than me and the rest of my brothers / sisters, so I say screw genetics, god just hates them.

Edit: That sounded quite arrogant, I'm not saying I'm the pretty sibling, I'm just saying Matt and Mark are butt ugly. lol

Someone just discovered Rumer Willis...

lol, that dog looks like it'd rather be anywhere else.

Is it just me, or do her boobs point down like an old woman's?

yep. daughter of Bruce and Demi. I think there's another one named Tallulah.

Rumer looks like one of those face generators where you merge two faces together. You can clearly see she is her parents' child, but it's like the DNA were too lazy to make sense of what suits a human, so she got everything.

I know a guy who's likened to a pierced pig with red hair; he's very fat, with giant piercings and no sense of personal hygiene, yet his younger brother by two years is the total opposite and does some modelling. Sometimes it's down to how we look after ourselves. If we want to mess up our hair, eat lots and look foul, it's not exactly genetics' fault.

It's a genetic crapshoot. Some people get all the best looking features of their parents combined, while another might get all their worst physical features combined.

Even that isn't guaranteed to produce a good-looking child. Some features just do not mix well with others, even if individually they are considered appealing.

Demi Moore's pretty face + Bruce Willis' manly facial structure and smile = Awwwww :csad:

Italian women are always gorgeous. The men...not so much.

It's even more of a weird phenomenon when it comes to twins. It's like one was suckling all the nutrients. :o

I would consider myself a good looking girl, but my brother, not so much (a good looking guy, that is). Besides me being taller than him, we look pretty similar, but his attitude makes him look unattractive. He shuffles his feet, looks down, avoids eye contacts, hunches over, is shy, and is a little overweight. If he was more outgoing, he would seem nicer looking.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Rumer Willis would be pretty if the entire lower half of her face were restructured.

Me and my friend were talking about this just yesterday. We have a friend who got the bad genes (especially his Gonzo nose), while his sister has turned out to be quite attractive.

I think taking care of oneself is definitely part of it though. My sister would be so much prettier if she took care of herself better, but she doesn't so I think most people would consider me the better looking of us two.

Yeah, I kinda got my mom's freckles and ridiculously young looks coupled with my dad's early facial hair genes. :csad:
