As much as I would want to vote for Nightcrawler, Snoopy and Homer are both more well known. However, Snoopy hasn't done much in recent years, whereas Homer is not only on a successful T.V. show on a weekly basis, he is also credited with a word in the dictionary "D'oh" and appeared in a recent movie. Homer wins.

No kind of excuse, just explaining my vote. I love Nightcrawler, but is he an "ultimate character", no. He's a sidekick. Did he ever even manage to get his own comic title?

it's to see who is the most popular character is of all time. Don't be scared no banks will be robbed. I'm not a fan of Angel but he will be in it. Angel was better then Buffy.

You need to have a PLAN. 1 Marvel Character that has had his/her own title. 1 DC Character that has had his/her own title. Do the same for the other major comic publishers out there. Then add in 1 Character from Literature (Sherlock Holmes, Anne of Green Gables, etc). Then add 1 Character from television. Then add 1 movie Character. Finally, 1 Character from Mythology (though that may cross lines with comic characters, like Thor and Hercules).
