Universal Studios backlot burned down-king kong destroyed

No, I'm in Memphis.

When I'm not at work, I'm in my apartment, on the internet and playing video games

CNN is reporting that a movie set called "Courthouse Square" was destroyed.

This is the set that the "Back to the Future" Clock Tower scenes were filmed.

Let's hope so Spidey.

From what I've read several sets have been destroyed.

"New York Street Scape"

"Courthouse Square"

A set from a new movie "The Changeling"

The "King Kong" exhibit

A film vault has also been damaged.

The CEO of Universal Studios said that everything CAN BE replaced. SO that's good news.

I thought that it was destroyed. Regardless, it's still saddening :(

It doesn't matter if it can be replaced. The originals are gone.

They'll still live on in celluloid though. :yay:

Dont' want to sound like a huge nerd, but that town from Back to the Future was used in the very first episode of The Twilight Zone.
Just thougt I'd stick that out there.

Lightning??? I would have guess some sort of electrical wiring malfunction...

There was also eyewitness who claim to have seen a speeding Delorean leaving some flames from a burned out tire.:o

really? lightening... ? thats rare here
Two weeks ago when it hailed, lightning hit my housemate's warehouse at work and several of the servers were fried.

I was out-of-state, so I missed the excitement. :csad:

I didn't think it was cloudy yesterday, although it does get cloudy at night so who knows...

3 years ago a squirrel jumped into a transformer at school and caused a massive power outage and fried itself. the funny part is the squirrel was our unofficial school mascot

According to the theories of Hulk Hogan, the BTTF set must have done something ****ed up in the past to get this karma payback.

there was no lightning. That's clearly a joke. It started on a soundstage. I live a block from the studio, and we heard all the fire engines and helicopters. They are telling us it started in one of the soundstages, but no one is saying if there was shooting or construction going on. King Kong is gone, man, that's really sad.

RIP Kong

Initial reports stated they were filming a movie.
