Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.
Just watched this, it was more suited towards being a DTV than a theatrical release. Hell even should've been a tv series. It wasn't HORRIBLE but certainly not great and had many flaws.
It bombed big time. It opened under 4 million for the weekend, less than half what the other major bomb of 2014 (I, Frankenstein) did. A whopping 11% on rottentomatoes.com too.
The only thing I saw from the trailers that looked interesting was Zoey Deutch, who I found out is Lea Thompson's daughter.
The whole vampires+element bending was just to much for me. It baffles me how this movie can get a wide release but Veronica Mars gets a very limited release (I know different studios but still)
When the Weinsteins deliver indie dramas, they're the darlings of Hollywood.
When the Weinsteins try to capitalize on genre movies, they tend to fail hard. I guess The Nut Job was successful for them, right? But with this and Nut Job, it's just generic crap on a stick. Why even bother?
And of course, they'll try to muck up Asian movies that they distribute when they can, but that's a different matter.
