Beans are pretty high in protein, actually.

I want to ask from what but I have a feeling that this might be a sexual joke. :woot:

It's not, beans and nuts have protein...but I guess that could easily be turned into a sexual joke.

I enjoy chicken and pork way too much to ever be a vegan...but more power to those who are.

Our teeth aren't the only indicator. While, yes, our teeth are meant for an omnivorous diet, we actually have a much easier time digesting vegitable proteins than animal proteins. Our teeth came from a time when we didn't have the luxury of being picky.

As for the question of veganism itself... while, yes, animals aren't killed to harvest milk and eggs, because of modern factor farming they are usually kept in what many vegans feel is inhuman, torture like conditions. Many vegans would make exceptions for free range animal products were they easier to find and less expensive.

We have always eaten meat as a species and used animals to our advantage. Animals in the animal kingdom do the same thing, we are just better at it. While I disagree with torturing animals, release all of those chickens in the chicken farms out in the wild and see how much they like the coyotes.

You have to admit, the conditions of factory farms are absolutely horrid. Free range farms are the better option.

Also, I just want to point out that "it's the way we've always done things" isn't a very good argument. There are lots of things we've always done that are actually really bad ideas. Not saying that this is one, just saying that it's not a strong point.

I had a vegan friend that resorted to eating only specially made bread. I informed her that no matter what they do, weavle eggs are in pretty much all wheat. she didn't talk to me for months.

Vegans will swat a spider or step on an ant but they won't drink cow's milk.

We have always breathed air. But I am sure there are people out there that killed themselves because they were taking oxygen away from animals. Without animals we would still be in the dark ages. If vegans were somehow the only people alive 6000 years ago, homosapiens would have already been long gone.

Personally, I couldn't do it. However, I did know a vegan once who had adopted her diet simply because she was nauseated by the blood of pre-cooked meats and was turned off by the "gooey" nature of many dairy products. I can certainly understand because most if not all people have at least 1 food that really grosses them out.

cooked carrots = :down *vomit*

F*** vegans, and f*** vegetarians too. 90% of the reasons they give for their choice are complete and utter bull.

and the thing is, free range foods taste better, the more leg space dvds and magazines a chicken is allowed, the happier they are and they lay better eggs.

edit: also, i suppose it's not just the magazines and dvds, if a farmer has taken the time and trouble to equipt himself with a free range set up, they are going to use better feed for the animals.

Part of the reason why Kobe beef is probably the best tasting beef in the world. The Wagyu cattle are fed beer... yum.

Well, at least if they escape they will have a good idea of where to find them.

and redhawk, that was really funny that story you told about the eggs in wheat, it just goes to show, as science marches on maybe they will find little civilisations that exist in soya, tofu and all that stuff, and then what are the vegans going to do? They are going to end up eating stuff like rubber tyres, metal sheeting, and end up mutating into transformers, in fact i am willing to bet that is how cybertron started.

I challenge vegans and vegetarians by slapping them across the face with a porterhouse steak.

It sounds harsh, but not really when you compare it with how I challenge feminists...
