Prior to the 1956 remake of The Ten Commandments, Victor Mature was the primary Biblical epic actor of Hollywood, having starred in films such as Samson & Delilah and The Robe - position he then lost to Charlton Heston, who went on to headline the aforementioned TTC, Ben-Hur, and other costume dramas.

So for those of you familiar with these two men, who was the better costume/Biblical epic hero type actor - Mature or Heston? Discuss.

I absolutely have to give my vote to Heston. The man is just amazing to watch on screen. The man's presence is astounding.

Haven't seen much at all with Mature, but Heston is the man to me. Like John Wayne, Arnold Schwarzneggar, Clint Eastwood, etc., the man has the presence of a god. You can't look away, even if his acting may stretch over the top a bit at times. It was awesome in Wayne's World 2 when they replaced that gas attendant with Heston. Perfectly appropriate and true.

wtf kind of last name is mature?

Charlton Heston easily.

No contest.

John Huston, He played god. :D

Charlton Heston has so much more presence imo, plus I love both TTC and Ben-Hur. So Heston gets my vote.
