Voting movies 1-10...

Dear God you make is sound epic and I hope that is how it goes.

it will be...sadly it wont be because of quality.....im looking forward to it, yes, but i guarantee it will get MUCH more credit than deserved...but it will be enormous.

I'm hoping so as well. I like the others, but I want one that I can put on my favorites of all time list.

The performances in Superman Returns made you go wow....

LOL

If those performances in SR were "WOW" worthy, then I wonder what Academy Award recognition performances are....

The performances were stylised and something that was miles away from the expected. It's not the typical stereotype performances of something like BB, but it's something with a lot more heart, which is emphasized by the direction.

Acadamey awards are notoriosly piss poor in terms of accuracy, they reflect the aliiegiances and the necessary needs of the hollywood industry, rather than guaging things accurately for quality etc.

I hate 1-10 ratings because I feel like there are so many numbers there, people tend to rate films higher or lower than they should. Espcially when people really enjoy it, they give it a 10. If they hate it, they give it a 1. I think that's stupid. Nobody ever votes a 3 or a 4. If they do, they do it because they seriously just pick a random number below 5 as unsatisfactory. What makes it worse is when some posters rate a movie a "9.2." What the f*** is a 9.2?

That is why I like to rate films with 4 star ratings.
It's easier, more accurate, and gives a better sense of general view. When followed by an elaborate review, it makes the rating even better.

Problem with 5 stars is that it reduces the different between films. Pushing a good 3 star movie, and a bad 3 star movie in the same bracket, which is a littl off.

I think the margin is too big.
I rate movies with 4 star ratings.

I hate the whole 1-10 rating system. The standard is 1-4. 1 is bad, 2 is decent, 3 is good, 4 is awesome...

1-10 is just too much for me...but on a scale of 1-4 I have voted movies a 1 before.

rating anything on a numerical scale is somewhat misrepresentative of the whole experience.

there is nothing better than an elaboration and explaining exactly why you do or don't like something.

the numbers are worthless without proper explanation.

Indeed, if a review MUST give a film a rating then I prefer to see a rating out of 10.

An example is when Phantom Menace got 4 stars out of 5 from Empire magazine .... which to be honest is a crazy score. Much better to say its a 5 or 6 out of 10 which hardcore Star Wars fans and children will enjoy but others may find it weak.
