Static Shock — Writer/producer/director Reginald Hudlin (Best Picture Oscar® nominee for producing Django Unchained, writer/director of House Party, executive producer/director of acclaimed TV series The Bernie Mac Show) leads the creative team behind a live-action adaptation of Static Shock, featuring the African-American super hero Static, aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins. Static Shock is based on the Static comic co-created by the late Dwayne McDuffie with co-writer Robert L. Washington III and artist John Paul Leon, which was originally published by the DC Comics imprint Milestone Comics and, later, by DC Comics. Milestone Media co-founder/comic book artist/TV producer Denys Cowan (the original Static Shock animated series) is collaborating with Hudlin on the new Static Shock. The aforementioned animated version of Static Shock previously aired for four seasons during the Saturday morning Kids’ WB! programming block on The WB Network from 2000–2004.

So his father might be in the Suicide Squad movie and his mother is currently on Gotham so you know what that means??

As long as he doesn't appear in any of the movies, I couldn't care less if he ends up playing Virgil Ovid Hawkins. :o

I'm not particularly fan of the showrunner (particularly because of his work on Black Panther), but whatever.

We're getting Static in live action!

Good. Static is too good a character to go unused. I was hoping for a movie franchise, but a live action TV show is good.

Wonder what version of the costume they'll give him.

I LOVED the series growing up, hopefully they dont blow this

I never read the comic books but I was fan of the 1990 animated series it was good until his friend became this super hero then they stated traveling back in time. I quite watching after them episodes.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh. I think no.

Serious.

Did they watch that Black Panther cartoon or the comic he wrote? Dude is terrible.

Hopefully he's just in charge of getting better people to actually work on it.

Hudlin was the worse thing to happen to Black Panther; in particular Storm since he wrote her being submissive to T'Challa for most of the marriage

Everyone involved in that Storm arranged marriage should be ashamed. Editors who allowed to happen to writers. Anyways, I was kind of excited about this until I saw that name. Man, I can't catch a break with anything DC related these days.

If Jaden Smith is cast as Static Shock, almost the entire Smith family are in the DC universe with Will attached to the Suicide Squad and Jada in Gotham.

Will Smith will NEVER be in an ensemble cast, dude's gotta be the headliner or nothing.

You and me both though with Constantine it does look to be the lesser of a grand evil
